Sesriem
I think they are the second best lodge in the Sossusvlei area, only behind the Dead Valley lodge which is inside of the national park. The last one is much more expensive and exclusive. For me, the advantage is that you can watch the sunset from dune 45. If you don’t really care about it don’t waste your money and just book Sossusvlei Lodge. They are 5 min away from the main gate, have amazing rooms and the greatest dinner buffet we had in Namibia.
Sesriem
A great stay at Homestead lodge, about 10 km from the entrance to Sossusvlei. Rooms are very comfortable with a beautiful view over the desert and its amazing sunsets. Sunset is also the time that the barking geckos start their tunes, first time we heard these soothing sounds. WiFi is available but with limited bandwidth, which is the case for most of the lodges we stayed in Namibia. Food and service was very good.
Sesriem
Everything was great. We were late to check in, but stuff of the hotel left us instructions how to get to our cabin. The cabin itself is very spacious with high ceilings. Food in nearby hotel was fresh and tasty and you can see some oryx and birds while eating outside. Stargazing was an additional free experience. Location is very close to Sossusvlei.
Solitaire
Lovely lodge, well located for Sossusvlei. Beautiful pool, easily the nicest I experienced in a whole month in Namibia. Accommodation was roomy, spotlessly clean and excellently equipped. Staff were attentive, friendly and helpful. Meals were excellent.
Sesriem
Exceptional resort hotel. Room on first floor with balcony and sunset view. Wonderful staff. Delicious 5 course served dinner. Breakfast equally great choice. We only had one night but wanted two! Easy 20 minute drive to Sesriem entrance to Sossusvlei.
Solitaire
One of our best lodges during our Namibia trip - especially with respect to the value for money: Great nature, friendly and helpful staff, very good breakfast, nice pool, giraffes around. Located perfectly for a stop between Sossusvlei and Swakopmund.
Sesriem
Location is excellent, really close to the entrance gate for Sossusvlei. The breakfast and dinner are good. views are really nice...epic sunsets. Friendly staff.
Great stay wonderful service The food was made from the soul VERY GOOD
This is a fabulously situated lodging next to the fossilized red dunes of the Namib desert. The gemsboks are attracted to the lodge and come in very close to its borders, allowing for optimum wildlife viewing and photography. The hikes around the lodge were very nice and there were many birds. The meals were very good and the staff are super friendly. The female chef was particularly charming and came out after each meal to see how we liked our food. There are two pools. A freak sandstorm with rain and thunder arrived suddenly one night at dinner and the staff quickly relocated diners from outside to safety inside and suggested we move our cars to avoid damage from overhanging branches. They were very kind and thoughtful.
Very few lodges have a view like Naukluft Lodge. It is located about 45 minutes from Sossusvlei, right by the Naukluft Mountains, precisely on the border between the Hardap and Khomas regions. The panorama and tranquility are overwhelming. From the terrace of each room, you can gaze across the vast savannah and a striking mountain backdrop on the distant horizon. Sometimes in the evening, a large herd of wildebeest comes right in front of the lodge to drink from the water. Oryx are scattered in the wide steppe grass. The lodge is very well-equipped. The brick bungalows are comfortable and stand out for the breathtaking view from the private terrace. A small pool with a shaded seating area provides cooling. The breakfast buffet is rich and sufficient, and the dinner is an excellent 4-course menu. The lodge offers shaded parking spaces for vehicles. The staff is extraordinarily friendly and attentive. We spent two nights here, and I will definitely come back.
The staff and owners were friendly. The camp was unique and interesting with a large collection of metal sculptures and unique objects. Meals were authentic and delicious. The bagged brunch prepared for us was exceptional. The chalet were comfortable within a beautiful setting.
Our room was beautiful, nice views everywhere and good food. You can see some Oryx in front of the hotel/rooms and beautiful sunsets.
Very nice and quiet lodge in the middle of the desert, yet not that far away from the main road and Sossusvlei/Deadvlei that it was a pain to get there. The lodge has a lovely staff that took care of us in an excellent way. Also the day tour they provide is very much worth it. They provide spacious, clean lodges with warm showers. Also the food was great.
The location of this hotel is spectacular. It’s other worldly and breathtaking. We were captivated.
Spectacular! Everything about the space, the food, the hospitality was 11 out of 10! Newman, Abuid and your chef all exceeded our expectations. Desert Whisper is more than an accommodation, it is an experience. One we will never forget.
