Had not been back to Methven in over 40 years & it was a fantastic walk down memory lane with The Blue Pub but Ski Time was new to us & was a real surprise for all the right reasons! Fantastic set up, staff, food & stay that we would recommend to others!

It was nice enough, but really overpriced for what it has to offer. Wi fi was extremely poor, literally no signal, the rooms are pretty outdated, but it's the problem of many motels in NZ.
Location wise is pretty good close to major pubs and the hot pools.
I'd give it a generous 5.5 out of 10.

Unable to answer a lot of the questions unfortuantly. We were double booked and missed out on the stay unfortuantly which didn't cause too much drama in our circumstances but was annoying. The biggest issue was only being told the day before out planned stay, which could of caused a real head ache if it was a longer teip further away from home. The host was lovely though over the phone and was refunded the full price.

Our visit to Methven was to go to the hot pools, which were excellent. My husband is not comfortable around water, but found the hot pools to his liking. We had a delicious evening meal at the Green Parrot restaurant, which was very well patronised when we were there. Food and beverage prices were very reasonable.

Couldn’t fault this lovely little village.
Couldn’t fault this lovely little village. Friendly people, tidy place easy to access. Great range of places to explore and enjoy, or to just sit and watch the world go by. A highlight for our group (8 70+) was having coffee at Topp Country Cafe. Go there!

We were there for 2 nights in the summer. Our full day was the best. Drove to the river for a look then parked at the race ground and did the piwakawaka and fairy walk. Had a picnic and then went to the tranquility pools.
Loved the pools and walk up bar. 2 hours was definately long enough and if you dont have kids then def do the adult only side.
All this could have easily been a day trip from Christchurch.
Dinner at the Green Parrot was amazing. We had the calamari and mussles and they were both amazing.
Would not stay at the methven resort again though. No pool and no entertainment or access to the shared space.

Methven is a very nice place to visit.
the Resort was a very handy facility but dated now. Restaurant & Bar in the hotel were poorly run. Places to eat out were very handy - walking distance. I would avoid booking with booking.com. The rack rate was more than 1/3 cheaper. Felt ripped off. I booked two further studio rooms for family on the spot and they were $110 per night

Methven is a nice little town to stay for a week if you're skiing, snowboarding or mountain biking in the area. There's 3 pubs and a few restaurants and takeaways, plus a couple of supermarkets. Closest location to Mt Hutt. Just over an hour from Christchurch.
Our needss were simple - all we needed was a comfortable bed, a shower and toilet Added to that the host went the extra mile for us. The continental breakfast was very appreciated. You could help yourself to as much or as little as you required.
The situation of the accommodation was in the main street with easy access. If we return to Methven it will be our first choice.
Loved the accommodation, so nice to be in the country and enjoy the views and bird song. We found it the perfect spot in Methven for our long weekend. It was relaxing spending time their enjoying the surroundings and easy access to walks. Just a short drive to the hot pools and also spent the day at Methven Races. Hosts friendly and always good communication.
Great location right in the middle of Methven and a very close walk to many of the shops and cafes. It was also great to be so close to the i-Hub, where we got picked up and dropped off by the bus to Mt Hutt. The facilities like the kitchen and bathroom were nice and clean enough. Check-in and check-out was also very easy.
Excellent location, close to the centre of Methven. Clean and tidy. Very spacious units, suitable for a large group (although we were only 3). Full kitchen with utensils, pots, etc. No grater, which would have been useful. Log fire was excellent. There is a heat pump but it struggled to heat the room in the winter.
Very good location, walking distance to bars, cafes, restaurants and best off all, close to Opuke Thermal Pools. Amazing hosts, thank you Lesley & Warren you are wonderful, friendly hosts. Thanks for a fantastic stay at your motel
The room was clean with a comfortable bed and good shower.
The host was nice and offered us an alternative carpark as the lodge parking was full. We ended up parking on the street though. Just something to be aware of.
Methven resort was great. The staff were very friendly and the accomodation very clean! There was a lovely fire, although we didn't get to sit by it as we were too busy. Very handy to everything you need.
Decent soundproofing. Very clean. Outlook across gardens to carpark. Convenient parking. Bus stop onsite for pick-up to Mt Hutt. Kitchenette came in handy when limited options to eat out in Methven.
This place is ok if you have relatively low expectations, but calling it a resort is a massive overstatement. It is a basic hotel and pretty dated. Maintenance looks very DIY.
The bed was sooooo comfy i wanted to pack it up and take it with me. And the staff there were so friendly which made my trip to methven. Definitely would come again
