Location was excellent for our purpose and that was to attend my daughter’s graduation at UC Berkeley but since we checked out early in the morning ,we did not get much from what we paid for.It would have been different had we stayed a little longer till noon ,but the city view was awesome at night and breakfast was very good.

This is 2 minutes from the Powell bart station, so it's an excellent location. If you want to do sightseeing, the area is very walkable, and there are also many trams and buses. You can walk to Fisherman's wharf from here (depending on the street you take, it might get a bit steep). There are many homeless people on the street, but during the day, I did not feel unsafe. There are plenty of other people walking around. I'm not sure about nights, I was inside in the evenings.
The hotel had an atm in the lobby, which I really appreciated. You can be sure not to be disturbed while getting money. I was on the 7th floor. The room had enough space and was a little scruffy but clean. The shower was hot, and I even had a bath. I struggled for a minute to get the water to come out. I had to pull on the top button.

This is a beautiful old hotel, designed by Julia Morgan. The courtyard is a great place to read a book. The breakfast was excellent, especially the two types of quiche. We didn't have enough time to explore everything we wanted to at the hotel, including the indoor pool and the small Julia Morgan museum. We will stay there again on our next trip to Berkeley.
Quality Inn University Berkeley is located just 1.5 km away from University of California, Berkeley.

Fab location (relative to University access). Very well appointed room - nothing fancy, but clean sheets, bathroom, fridge, microwave, closet space, luggage space, strong wifi. Pretty great for the price

What we liked the most was securing the hotel lobby entry doors at night, requiring you to have your room key card to enter. This made us feel safe.
However, on departure day I forgot my new black jacket in the room either hanging in the closet or left on the bed. It was purchased in Seattle, during the first part of our trip Nov 1 - 15, because the weather was sooo cold. Upon reaching home I called the hotel while unpacking and discovered it missing. I spoke to the Manager of the Front Office who informed me he will check with the Housekeepers that serviced our room and would call me back. As of today Dec. 12, 2022 Matt has not called back. No one answers when I called the hotel (510-849-1121) several times since checking out. This is very disappointing. I hope someone looks into this and provides an update to me.

Very large sized bathroom. I enjoyed the bathroom very much!
Very large sized bathroom. I enjoyed the bathroom very much! My booking said breakfast included. There was none. Not just this motel/hotel, many are renovating, and quiet enjoyment is not good. But did get some rest around 7 pm. The person above me was a heavy walker/ stomper. Even still, I would choose to come back again, because of the size of the bathroom.

Beautiful city with dirty streets.
Beautiful city with dirty streets. Compared to Boston or Cambridge, the city is clearly not doing enough to address unhoused people, especially those suffering mental illness. Their presence is apparent on sidewalks throughout the city. So too is trash, discarded papers, garbage and generally disorder that could at least be ameliorated with decent temporary housing, daily expanded sidewalk cleaning and leasing of dozens of boarded up businesses (even temporarily to artists, etc).

Enjoyed our stay in Berkeley.
Enjoyed our stay in Berkeley. Went there for our son's graduation and had a few days to walk around. We visited the campus, my husband and son went running and we had a nice dinner at Chez Panisse Bistrot (had to make the reservation THE day they opened up the reservations on-line) to celebrate. Lots of food options near the hotel, getting around Berkeley is easy. It was fun seeing the graduates.

I loved Berkeley and it’s beautiful greenery and views.
I loved Berkeley and it’s beautiful greenery and views. The food options are endless and the casual shopping is so much fun. There is so much to see in the town and on Cal campus. The surrounding areas offer a variety of activities and vistas.
Thanks for serving breakfast and always having coffee available. I enjoyed my stay and encourage anyone to pick this place over any other locations in Berkeley. You will find that for about the same amount of money you won't get the beautiful inside interior look of fanciness compared to the motels that are run down loud and often say they serve breakfast and DON'T. This motel looks more like a hotel and has a swimming pool. The cleaning staff is very nice if you need more TP, shampoo, soap and towels.
Loved the restaurant and bar. Very fancy and tasteful yet comfortable and inviting. The steak was amazing. Shout out the our server Megan for taking great care of us. The whole dining/lounging/bar area was grand. The whole lobby area was grand too, great style. Nice bed and room. Great location, very close to lots of cool bookstores, eateries, restaurants and shops. All within a block or 2 from the hotel.
We loved the property and the staff were so nice, helpful and wonderful. We had a great experience from arriving at the hotel, to check in, dining at the restaurant, getting a drink at the bar and to check out. The staff gets an A+. Thank you for making our stay perfect. We will definitely stay again in the near future.
The location was excellent….a few steps away from UC Berkeley. Also, there are plenty of restaurants nearby, including hot dog at Top Dog, pizza places and others. Henry’s, the restaurant/bar on the first floor, is a very good addition to the Hotel itself. The parking right behind the building was very convenient also.
For those of us who prefer to avoid a sterile, corporate hotel stay, Rose Garden is the antidote. It's full of character, very clean and the room was very comfortable. Right near the heart of famous Telegraph Avenue. It has off-street parking which is very helpful in Berkeley. Friendly staff.
The staff at this hotel is exceptional- Rosie went out of her way to make sure our stay was comfortable and all inquiries were met with politeness and helpfulness. Joey was great two- great help with our cars as we came and went- even late at night.
Location of the hotel in Berkeley Marina is superb. Excellent value for money breakfast. Friendly staff. Clean rooms. Option for daily or every other day service of the room. Common areas very inviting and relaxing with superb view.
The location, the free carparking, the excellent swimming pool, the lovely bedroom, the character of the hotel, the bocce court, the accommodating reception staff, the laundry facilities, the lemon water available in reception
It was in a quiet neighborhood. The cost was better than the noisy hotels downtown. It was an apartment-like room in a larger house and had a homey feel. It was also convenient to visit my daughters in Berkeley.
I like the location. It's only 10 minutes driving to UC Berkeley. I like the breakfast that served the guests and offering variety of food. I like egg whites veggies omelette, biscuits and sausage gravy.
Staff was welcoming and friendly, providing a map of the area. The hotel was clean and everything in good working order. The shower was especially nice--tall enough! Windows opened for good ventilation.
Very close to downtown Berkeley food and shopping. Older hotel but cleaned well and the price was great for the area. There are only 9 regular spaces and one handicap. Parking is free get there early.
Nice facility in a great location in Berkeley. Parking next door was reasonably priced. Liked the coffee shop/hotel lobby. Staff was pleasant, efficient, and knowledgeable.
it’s charming and different than chain hotels. it has parking and is an easy walk up to telegraph avenue. there is a Whole Food a few blocks away, plus a close by CVS.
