We stayed in The Ashberry Guest House in Penrith on our way from Essex to the Isle of Arran, it was ideal to break up our journey. Phil was an excellent host, he was very friendly and helpful, giving us advice on where to go for dinner. I am a coeliac and Phil and his wife had very thoughtfully put gluten free biscuits in our room, they had also got gluten free muesli, bread and sausages for my breakfast. It is so appreciated when people make the extra effort. We would definitely stay here again 😊
Beautiful, quiet location, 5 min drive from Aira Force waterfall. Historic inn. Well-cooked, homely food. Great staff. New owner is charming, and keen to get client's views on any improvements, and to make the hotel environmentally sustainable.
We stayed at The Ginney guest house for a night. The owners very welcoming and hospitable. The breakfast was beautifully cooked and well presented. The room was comfortable and the guest house close to the lakes and a town with good pubs and restaurants.
Great little 'olde worlde' inn. Very rustic in all aspects, as you would expect from a place of that age, but delivered a great experience. Rooms basic but clean, food fantastic, and all the staff very helpful. We had the pleasure of a power cut in the village on one night, which delayed our meal a little, but the staff were great, and we got to eat eventually when the power came back on after a couple of hours. Would have no problem recommending this property!
A very nice historic Inn on the edge of the lovely village of Grasmere. Very friendly, helpful staff, large comfortable rooms and good food available all day. A nice bar too.
A pretty, historic inn with great staff and a good restaurant - I’m still remembering our lovely waitress Rory. We loved the Lakes District and the location was good.
Increadibly nice and helpful staff. Spotless, very nice rooms. We had a lovely view of the hills and waterfall at the back of the Inn. The innkeeper, Emiko, had already turned the heating on in our room before we arrived as it was a somewhat cold and rainy day. Very thoughtful gesture. We warmly recommend this great Inn!
The guest house was very good. The host was friendly and helpful and the location was very convenient for the town centre and walking in the area.. His suggestion for dinner was very helpful. The cake offering was a great touch and much appreciated.
Beautiful setting and unique experience to stay in the Shepherds Hut. Having basic kitchen facilities meant that we could self cater for dinner and breakfast. At first we were a bit taken aback with the distance and terrain to cross to get to the toilet and the facilities appeared very rustic. However, everything was there that we needed.
Historic inn with great character, good beer and food. The room was clean if a little on the small side. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast was very good. The only addition we would have liked would be fruit.
