Orta San Giulio is an authentic gem of a town on the banks of Lake Orta. Lots of cobbled streets, interesting shops, plenty of good places to eat or enjoy an aperitif. It doesn’t feel as touristy as some of the bigger towns on the larger lakes. Gorgeous medieval buildings and an amazing church. Well worth a visit.

Orta San Giulio is a little hidden gem in the North of Italy. I booked a bit by coincidence and I was very positively surprised. The old center is a very nice place to stroll around and the Piazza Motta is a great place to enjoy one of the terraces.

It is a lovey attractive lake with a very pretty island accessible by ferries from all sound the lakeside villages. San Giuliano is quite beautiful but is a victim of its success because it is difficult to access having to park some way out and walk and is of course very touristy. There are lots of narrow streets and boutiques and some super restaurants. A romantic place. The Venus restaurant was excellent right by the ferry port and the perfect setting for a cocktail and sumptuous meal.

Beautiful little town in the Italian lakes.
Beautiful little town in the Italian lakes. The town is perfect for a relaxed break. There is opportunity for watersports, restaurants and bars as well as swimming in the lake and hiking in the hills and mountains nearby.
You cannot park in the centre of town, so be aware that you will need to walk luggage down to your hotel if you are staying in the centre. We got the train in from Milan, which was very easy and a much cheaper option.

The location was extraordinary as was the views from the big arched windows. The apartment had everything needed for a comfortable stay. The service from Carolina and Veronica was beyond exceptional. They picked me up from the train station then the next day picked up my friend AND they took us back to the station on our leaving day.
Instructions for apartment were clear and recommendations for food etc were there in abundance.
Lovely stay in a lovely place. Orta San Giulio is beautiful.
The apartment has been beautifully remodeled to include the charm of the original build, but with a respectful, modern touch. The color choices, the lighting, and the appliances all were very well thought out. The beds were extremely comfortable. The apartment is just above the local square, with a wonderful view of Isola San Giulio. The doors leading out to the balcony offer enough sound proofing that the activity on the square in the mornings was not bothersome.
The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout the stay - I really found everyone to be so lovely. Breakfast is excellent and there is a large amount of choice. Being able to sit out on the terrace looking over the lake is a fantastic bonus feature for this hotel. The room was clean and comfortable. I ate in the restaurant one night and thoroughly enjoyed the food and wine. The service in the restaurant was equal to that across the rest of the hotel.
Great central location in historic building. Beautiful residents lounge. Very quiet and comfortable. Park in the multistory and it’s a very short (and signed) walk to Via Monti. Best for one of you to stay with the luggage outside the property and the other one walk the additional 200m to the Hotel. The staff will come back with you with the keys. Much easier than it sounds!
Perfect location, right in the middle of the piazza and all the restaurants, bars and shops. Even better than the photos depicted. Stefano is an incredible host and provided very helpful instructions to arrive and also tips and suggestions during our stay. I highly recommend staying at OrtaFlats when in Orta San Giulio.
Best place I have ever stayed in my life. The location is absolutely amazing! Literally a few steps from the lake with private access. Even though the weather didn't help us at all it was worth it. The bathroom is elegant and spacious (very rare when it comes to Italy).
We were received and welcomed very friendly by Andrea and his mother. The apartment is well equipped and Andrea took great care to inform us about the ins and outs of the apartment and the possibilities of Orta San Giulio. We would like to come back!
The apartment was perfect, clean, in the center of a lovely village, in front of Isola di San Giulio. The host was very responsive and helpful. The garage was a big plus. There are huge windows throughout the apartment and the view was stunning!
The location was excellent, sitting atop the lake with spectacular views of the island. The hotel staff was very friendly and the service for breakfast and dinner was quite attentive. The restaurant was especially good and the food was terrific.
Location was excellent, right in the middle of town. Piera was easy to work and communicate with. Apartment is very spacious even for family of 5. Nice partial view of the lake. Would stay here again if visiting orta san Giulio.
The hotel is everything you would imagine of a typically Italian hotel in a small lake town. Staff were super friendly, welcoming and helpful. Pool and pool view from breakfast across from the lake was very picturesque.
Hotel close to the river with a nice view. Good breakfast with fresh fruit, regional products and eggs made at the moment. Late check-in available with good communication.
Bedroom clean and comfortable.
A real nice and cozy appartment in the center of the beautiful town Orta San Giulio. You could almost feel the history of the building and I wished the walls could talk :)
Incredibly cosy apartments with breathtaking view, very friendly owner who is always ready to help. Thank you so much! The best place to stay in Orta san Giulio.
