Absolutely beautiful area. Close proximity to parks, as well as National Trust parks, gardens, shops, planned walks, activities for all abilities, amazing countryside and of course the Lakes. Very dog friendly. We fell in love with it, and didn't want to return home. We will definitely be going again.

There are wonderful hikes of all different lengths -- one hour to 8 hours -- and you get extraordinary views from all of them. And there always seems to be a nearby pub at the end of the hike! Truly great hiking and friendly people. We had a great dinner at the Fellpack restaurant too.

Very nice town many interesting shops pubs and cafes with a very good museum stop the weekly market small bit interesting. It was a very short walk down to the waterfront which has a good compliment of boats etc. The variety of pubs was excellent and it was much appreciated that the town had a wetherspoon. As a transport hub it was easy for myself which did not have a car to visit many areas. It is also close to both high heels for walking and for much lower level walks what's up this would suit all tastes.

The Lake District is a beautiful part of England and Keswick is a lovely place within it. It's big enough to have a small town feel bit small enoght to have a village feel. Coupled with this is its direct position on the lake with its beautiful views of hills/mountains (I can never tell the difference!) in balance with the lake on its islands. Altogether its a wonderfully peaceful place to chill alone or socialise with lovely people as you choose.

As a person who enjoys driving, the roads to the Lake District are some of the most spectacular…as long as the weather is nice to take in the views.
The main road of the A591 takes you from Keswick to Windermere. What a drivers road and the views!
Even at the busiest time we have been, we have managed to park up. Be warned though, as must places these days, cash payment are not accepted, so be prepared to download or use your phone to make payment.
Otherwise the area is very well kept and hats off to the locals and those that visit for keeping this gem, super clean.
This isn’t a place where you will see cheap tacky shops which is a blessing. You will of course pay a premium for some other stuff.
Keswick has its own lake and boat trips which are great to use on a warm day and to rest those weary limbs.
There is a large amount varying restaurants , Steaks, Indians, Thai etc, so you are spoilt for choice. Locally made beers are also on tap.
We had a lovely stay here. The place is in a great location if you don’t have a car as it’s only a 15 minute walk into the town centre and the bus stop is a 2 min walk away. The room we had was lovely and clean. The owner was very nice and have prioritised the safety of guests by having self check in and only a certain number of guests at a time in for breakfast (you have to pick a time the night before). The breakfast was delicious. I can’t fault a thing about this place and can’t wait to stay again!
I liked everything about the hotel. The location was convenient for the north lakes. The room was quite big, well equipped and comfortably accomodated our family of three. We used the swimming pool extensively and it was clean and well maintained. Staff was friendly and helpful throughout our stay. And the food was really good. All of this at a reasonable cost particularly when compared to some of the other city centre hotels in the surrounding areas.
The hotel and grounds were far more picturesque than we anticipated and it is perfectly situated in Keswick with an easy walk into town and to the start of most walks and Derwentwater. Our room was lovely and although not modern and up to date perfectly reflected the building and its surroundings and everything worked and was clean.
The restaurant for breakfast was great and there was more than enough options with a lovely view across the lawn.
Although the room was not en-suite, it might as well have been. The Shower and toilet was next door and exclusively for use of that room. Shower was lovely and hot and bathroom had a huge towel rail that was great for drying off wet clothing. Breakfast was fantastic and location was a 20 minute walk to Keswick town centre, although if raining not ideal. The was a pub within 200 yards of hotel.
You will be lucky if you can find a better hotel in Keswick. Spotlessly clean, great facilities and attention to even the smallest details. A wonderfully comfortable bed and a great breakfast. The owners are lovely, friendly hosts to whom nothing is too much trouble. Cannot recommend this hotel enough, you will not be disappointed.
A stunning b&b in a quiet part of Portinscale, just 20 minutes walk to Keswick town centre. Debbie was very friendly, informative and cooks a smashing breakfast. I stayed on the top floor with a lovely view. Highly recommended for couples or solo travellers 👍🏻.
The house was immaculate, well appointed and in a great location to be quiet, but still only a few minutes walk from Keswick town centre. Parking was free and right outside the house. We would definitely recommend Stanegarth, and indeed stay here again.
The location was great, a five minute walk into Keswick town centre. Alison and Wayne are a very friendly couple and checked that we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The bed was so comfy and the breakfast was delicious
The location is lovely. You can access Keswick town centre easily by foot in 15/20 minutes. The hotel is central enough to access lovely walking routes and to Derwentwater itself. The location is ideal.
Perfect location , host and facilities.
Great for walking and exploring North lakes 5 mins from Keswick Town centre
Dog friendly great garden for stretching morning paws.
Beautiful hotel in keswick town centre, brilliant staff .. oldest hotel in keswick .. lots of history , room was huge! Loved this place and will definately return 100%
Excellent location very close to the town centre but also very quiet. Car parking was an important consideration so to have a reserved space ticked every box.
Lovely hosts and great location for Keswick town centre. Lots of choices for breakfast. Very easy check in and check out. Hosts have a lovely little dog too!
