Gorgeous hotel, room & grounds, including the dining room, lounge & lobby. Japanese-style room was very comfortable, with very attentive and professional staff.

The design of the Oki Olive guesthouse is exceptional with incredible attention to detail at every turn. It is a beautiful space to relax in with multiple location options to rest like chairs looking out into garden, a tatami floor living room, dining table, bath, and shower. Our host was gracious and attentive and was open to making recommendations for dinner and activities. The tour of his olive farm was an added delight. We were looking for a more rural experience, so the property’s location worked well for us! We used a rental car to get to the property. There is a parking space provided.

Set in Tonosho in the Shodoshima region, with MeiPAM Art Museum and Saiko-ji Temple nearby, Kikuya Ryokan offers accommodation with free private parking. I highly recommend this inn! The innkeeper, Miya, grew up in this house and knows Shodoshima intimately. A stay here will give you a wonderful sense of how a traditional Japanese home feels. The tatami rooms are so comfortable. I was able to fully recuperate after some exhausting travel. Miya could not be more accommodating and kind to her guests. She will give you many recommendations and guidance to experience this island. This is truly the best place I stayed in Japan for this kind of hospitable experience. It’s very close to the Tonosho station as well.

Yunaginoyu Hotel Hanajyukai features a sauna and a hot spring bath, as well as air-conditioned accommodation in Takamatsu, 3.7 km from Liminal Air-core Takamatsu. A very welcoming staff. The view on the terrace and the roof-top onsen are such a great experience.

Beautiful and majestic old-school onsen hotel. Fantastic view. Lovely onsen. I changed my plans just to enjoy it for another day. Note: there is a shuttle bus pick-up at the port (bus will come within 15 minutes when you call (before 6pm)) - you'll see the pick-up point in front of the low building). There are also drop-offs scheduled in the morning. Great big breakfast. Bicycle available to order.

A 5-minute walk from JR Kotohira Train Station, Kotosankaku Hiten provides Japanese rooms with traditional futon beds and Konpira Mountain views. We enjoyed our one-night stay a lot! Free parking, very close and walking distance to the Kotohiragu area. The room itself was very spacious for 2 people. The onsen was also very nice, there were multiple hot tubs (including jet/jacuzzi ones) indoors and outdoors, and they switch the onsen between male and female overnight. There's also restaurants within the hotel itself. The deco of the hotel along the main walkway and the reception was quite traditional and was nice to appreciate.
