Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomGreat location in fascinating village with a tight maze of streets on steep hillside with several nice restaurants serving ‘typical Puglian’ fare. Great views from room balcony and breakfast balcony. Wonderful host, welcoming, considerate and generous. Great breakfast, pancakes with fresh fruit, slices of thin frittata with eggs and herbs, slices of local cheese, range of sweet pastries and cakes, good coffees. Parking available.

AustraliaLeaving.
This is a very authentic home style experience with a gracious and lovely host. She provides embroided towels and home baked delicacies, to go with your warm, cosy and very comfortable room. The house is only 1 minute walk to the town centre. Fabulous place to stay at.

United StatesCivita has very narrow, steep streets, and we had a tough time maneuvering on the road where La Sentinella is. The streets are part of the charm of Civita! But do be warned and try to drive a very small car if you are able.
The breakfast was absolutely incredible. I have celiac disease, and Marianna made delicious gluten-free biscuits, muffins, mini pies, and other sweets from scratch, and made sure that my food was kept separate from my husband’s (also delicious) gluten food. Aside from the baked goods, she made us a spread of eggs/zucchini frittata, caprese, fruit, prosciutto, and capuccinos. We ate on the terrace with a beautiful view over the mountains. The room itself was very cute and very clean, and our balcony overlooked the mountains and the entry into Civita. La Sentinella is also very close to the main piazza and short walking distance from all the sights and restaurants Civita has to offer. It’s also very near to the entrance of the town, and has good signage to find it.

Mariana was an excellent host, one of the best I have encountered. Incredibly laid back and welcoming. The rooms are immaculate and fabulously decorated. It is a breathtakingly panoramic location As if it couldn’t get any better it certainly does. Mariana’s baking and chef skills are top notch. Hands down the best breakfast I’ve ever had with so many homemade cakes, pastries, omelets, fruit, juice, espresso and cappuccino. She even recommended a typical local restaurant for dinner and made reservations for us for an excellent dinner. A truly 5 star experience.

We loved everything. Mariana is so friendly & helpful. Her English is limited, but a lot better than our Italian! We managed to communicate. The property is so charming, spotlessly clean. We had a double room with a terrace overlooking the valley. The scenery is stunning. A few steps from the piazza, there are some good restaurants in the town. Breakfast was a feast! Mariana is a fabulous cook. There were a multitude of freshly made cakes & pastries, fruit each morning plus egg if you want. She sets the table beautifully & serves you coffee. We loved our stay in this peaceful village. It's certainly worth the winding drive to experience & explore, but also to stay at this charming bnb.

SwedenLovely B&B in a beautiful historic town with breathtaking views. It is located on a small side street with lovely terraces to sit outside. The host was lovely- kind, attentive, and provided many excellent recommendations to experience the local culture and nature. The room was perfect for us and our two children. The breakfast was extraordinary. I wish we had time to stay here longer and visit the museum. Warmly recommend this B&B! Thank you!

This is such a wonderful place! It is a nice old building looking out on the mountains. The location is very central but very quiet. The rooms are decorated with a lot of attention for detail and thankfully nothing from IKEA in sight. But what really makes this place is the lovely hostess. She is so very friendly and so very accommodating. She prepares fresh breakfast, no pre-packed toast, jam etc, here but fresh fruit salad, freshly baked omelettes, high quality pastries and cakes. In this little B&B every effort is made to make you feel welcome.

The attention to every detail by the owner, from hand pressed, beautiful linens to a delicious breakfast which included a large selection of homemade pastries. This is a rare find and our stay could not have been more pleasant. The location is only a few minutes walk from the town center and restaurants and convenient for hiking in the national park that surrounds Civita.
