Medford itself is a middle sized city with all the stores you might wish for but not a lot of character that I could see in the downtown area. However, it makes an excellent affordable launching pad for exploring the nearby artisan colony/ Shakespeare festival in Ashland and the nearby wine country in surrounding areas. We are at Ruby's (good burritos and burgers) and Rooted (plant based delicious food). Would definitely come again.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

We were just traveling through Ashland on this trip, but have stayed in Ashland a few times. It is a fun little town, especially with the many theater options and the good restaurants. It is also close to wineries, farm tours, and outdoor activities.Guest review byJulieUnited States - 2.0

The downtown old grants pass area very nice to walk and look at the old Town. It is a very nice place to visit more vacation but if I were you I would find the right motel and possibly spend a little bit more money upgrading something nicer than motel 6Guest review byJaschke - 8.0
Very few places to eat that were open in Shady Cove.
Very few places to eat that were open in Shady Cove. The best likely place to eat in Shady Cove is only open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Mac's Diner adjoins the motel. Was looking forward to eating there but it was not available during my stay. This should be noted on the Restaurant's website and the Motel could also mention this fact on their website since the restaurant is adjacent to the motel.Guest review byGaryUnited States - 10.0

This is a quaint town that's pretty close to several areas worth visiting which makes it an ideal place to stay while on vacation. I'd highly recommend staying here if you plan to visit the Southern Oregon area.Guest review byGUZYLGuam - 8.0

We think Jacksonville is adorable, but we arrived on a tuesday. There was no concert scheduled. The place was a ghost town. All the stores and tasting rooms were closed. It was even challenging to find a place for dinner.Guest review byAnneUnited States - 2.0
The hotel and casino people are power hungry.
The hotel and casino people are power hungry. I asked what they needed to scan my drivers license for and if they had a privacy policy, they said they were a tribe and they don't have to care about that kind of thing. They evicted me for asking! For a year!Guest review byStuartUnited States - 8.0

We didn't spend any time in Rogue River. This was a one nighter from picking up wine at Del Rio (great wines), and heading back north in the a.m. We did enjoy our dinner at Taqauria LaGuacamaya next door. Nice river walkGuest review byFREDERICKUnited States - 2.0
I was charged twice for the room.
I was charged twice for the room. When I booked the room on 8-20- the charge of 129.00 was taken out of my account. when I arrived at the motel on 8-25 the lady taking care of me wanted my credit card to process a payment, I told her it was already paid for when I booked the room. She said oh no you have to paid us and process the payment again. when another employee came in she told her that she didn't have to do that, because the room was already paid for. When I got home I check my account was there was 2 charges on my account one for 129.00 on 8-20 and one on 8-25. I called the motel and the lady verfied that I was charged twice and she would get back to me. She didn't so I called back this afternoon and the lady said I had to call back later that some one was coming in to correct it, and hang up on me, before she hang up I did get in that If they reverse it I would call our vise company, and she hang up.Guest review byBryan - 4.0
If you've been anywhere in Northwest Oregon, then you know...
If you've been anywhere in Northwest Oregon, then you know the state has some of the most beautiful forests, mountain areas, and coastal views in the country. Then you travel into the valley and arrive in Medford—a desolate, dusty place, with few trees and no real views to be had. Respectfully, there are so many more beautiful places in Oregon, Medford is more of a place to pass through (perhaps to get some food or gas) rather than a destination. If we didn't have family in this area, that's exactly what I'd be doing. Perhaps try Ashland, 20 minutes down the road, which actually has trees and a cute downtown.Guest review byKelsey P.United States
