Las Vegas is always a good choice for a little getaway. Alone with your better half or with friends, it's always fun with so much to do and see. We visited high en restaurants from Jose Andres Bazaar Meat to diner and a show at Mayfair Supper Club at the Bellagio. In the city, bar hopping is always fun, especially at downtown LV. This is not the Laughlin of prior visits. I haven't been there since COVID hit and apparently it did a number on this town. A couple of the hotels have shut down. There was no one playing on the river. We came for the Star Train and were not disappointed by the trip. Definitely check out the Nevada Northern Railway when in Ely. They offer a number of different train rides, and the self-guided walking tour is also worthwhile. The Star Train is especially lovely, taking passengers out to the desert at night to a star viewing area, with telescopes and accompanied by professional astronomers. We were in the area for the Ron Fellows Driving School but we did try to explore the area while we were there.
