Very friendly and welcoming staff and owner! The rooms/bungalows, pool, restaurant and public areas are so clean and well-maintained. There’s a generator which turns out to be really important for Zanzibar as the power supply cuts several times a day. There was a very nice BBQ night with a live band and it was really entertaining. Babalao have also organised our tours and made us feel home. Great value for money. Thank you!

We had a wonderful stay at Oasis Blu Beach Resort! Despite some previous reviews mentioning bugs, we didn’t encounter any issues at all—everything was clean and comfortable. The resort is located a bit away from the busy center of Nungwi, which we actually loved. It costs around $25 for a round-trip taxi to the town, but being slightly removed means you get to enjoy a peaceful, almost private stretch of beach with breathtaking views. The hotel itself is quite small—fewer than 20 rooms—which makes it feel intimate and personal. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing, and the staff are truly exceptional. Every single person went above and beyond to make sure we felt welcome and well cared for. If you’re looking for a quiet, scenic escape with outstanding hospitality, this place is a hidden gem!

If someone wants a clean, comfortable room, with all the amenities that make the stay better, with a view of the wonderful colors of the Indian Ocean, the Dhow is the best choice! Room - restaurant - bar and the sea one step away! The Manager, the girls at the service, the boys at the bar, the maid, all of them polite with a warm smile satisfied our every need. The location where this brand new hotel is built is ideal for those who love walking next to the waves! The sea water and its colors were wonderful!!! Put a swimsuit, shorts, sunscreen, hat in your bag, wear a wide smile and you will have a great time in this little paradise. The menu is super ! The breakfast is the big surprise!!! A little while before the taxi came to pick us up, we had the pleasure of meeting the owner. My opinion is that he made a dream come true and for this reason the Dhow is a unique vacation for those travelers looking for peace and quiet away from the huge hotels.

I liked the relaxing and calm atmosphere of the place. Guests live there but there is always more than enough space for everyone. The management is super friendly and welcoming, always ready to help with whatever request you have. The beach is very close and you will get a beach towel for free. The food is very tasty and the prices are very reasonable. I kept coming to this hotel for lunches and dinners even after I checked out and moved in to another area. The hotel is new, so it is very clean and cozy around. The interior design of the rooms is very beautiful. I would definitely stay there again!

    The hotel is beautiful, the rooms are huge and it feels like home. Beautifully located on the beach and what makes this hotel so special is the presence of the manager and the amazing staff! We have rarely felt as comfortable as we do here and we have never experienced such an attentive and present manager and we have stayed in many luxury hotels. The staff is incredibly friendly, attentive and eager. Our flight was postponed to very late, the Manager Tuan Thasleem Juhara knew that we had to do our checkout the next day and offered us a free late checkout including dinner! We were able to stay in our room until late, enjoy our last day to the fullest at the beach, watch the last sunset, have a shower in our room and enjoyed our last dinner with no rush and then checed out. Simply fantastic and so generous! From the staff at the reception, in the restaurant, bars, gardeners, room cleaners to the manager they are all great and go the extramile! Thank you all for doing such a great job and making us fall in love with you! You really miss these people when you leave this place! Hakuna Matata!

    Special thank you to Mr. Jabili at the desk and all the staff. We arrived around 9am, the staff welcomed us for a drink, we were able to have breakfast instead of the last day (breakfast was included in our room) which was highly appreciated after a long trip. We were able to check in early and the room was just beyond our imagination: it was perfect overlooking the ocean. It was perfect for the sunsets too. Additionally, the staff welcomed us also with a bottle of prosecco which tasted great. During the stay, staff were very nice. We also took a spa and at times it felt as there were 4 hands working on my back. She was good. Swimming pool, direct access to the beach was wonderful. It is not noisy, yet you have everything at walking distance.. Simply the best hotel on the beach in zanzibar.

    The resort is wonderful, the cottages and tropical gardens look so beautiful and well-kept. The rooms are large, clean and very comfortable. I had half board and I can say that the food was very diverse and every evening there was a themed dinner and something new compared to the previous days. Very tasty food, many types of meat, fish, vegetables, pasta. Private and well-guarded beach with fine sand and turquoise water. I'm sorry to leave, but I will definitely come back here. About the staff, I can say that they were most professional, welcoming and friendly. I'm sorry to leave, but I will definitely come back here. Ocean Paradise Resort 🩵.

    This place is Amazing ❤️ The staff go above and beyond for you with their service, So nice and Happy all the time time. we would go on Day trips and be greated with food and drink hampers free of charge to take with us. The accommodation itself was beautiful, very private and stunning views. It really was a dream come True. The food was some of the best food I’ve ever Tasted compliments to the chef he is Fantastic.     AMAAAAAZING location and an even more AMAAAAAAZING view. Friendly and very helpful staff. The resort is the perfect size for a relaxing and quiet holiday, not too big so the walks between the accomodations and facilities are short. We stayed in the spacious seafront appartment which offered peace (despite being directly next to the swimming pool), romantic atmosphere and a breathtaking view.

    Many restaurants and beach bars , next to Badolina Bungalows . Good prices and good food at Baraka restaurant and Nanasi restaurant. And , also , at Zava restaurant. For excursions I recommend Yussufu , very nice guy and good prices .

    Matemwe is ideal for relaxing and spending quality time with friends and family. Matemwe is near Mnemba island 🏝️ for swimming with dolphins 🐬 . We rode bicycles 🚲 around the village and the place felt very safe. There are few alternative places for lunch or dinner. Not too far from stone town.

    The sea and beach with super soft and white sand are absolutely fabulous and relatively clean. I got bitten by sand fleas on my legs because I spend a lot of time in the sea and walked barefoot. There is a lot of informal trade on the beach by locals trying to sell something. Maybe even more so if you are a woman walking alone.

    Generally, a lovely and intimate establishment with staff that care for your personal needs. The manager is so friendly and always wants to know how the guests are doing. The most beautiful sunrises. The performances add to the spice. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

    Truly enjoyed the pristine beach and the laid back nature of the place. Totally enjoyed several meals at Fish Restaurant which were absolutely delicious. I tried Kingfish, Changu, Perch, White Snapper, Prawns etc. The seafood was phenomenal. We also enjoyed seeing the turtles and the artwork at several curio shops. Also enjoyed an early morning boat ride seeing the dolphins. I can't believe how fast time went by. Looking forward to visiting Zanzibar again.

    The snorkeling was a true adventure, with well-protected marine life and crystal-clear water. Spotting the dolphins was an unexpected bonus! Visiting the sea turtle rehabilitation center and feeding them was a special experience.

    The location is great, just a minute from the ocean, there are a lot restaurants both expensive and very local ones, no issues with electricity, hot shower and air-con and the safe box. Card and cash payment is acceptable. Very safe to stay and walk around even at night, the owner is very kind and trustworthy. Very basic breakfast but it OK, no TV and fridge in the room, internet is breaking so often especially in the room, but it works perfectly at the balcony. It is very budget friendly and highly recommend it.

Local security presence is minimal, so don't expect much intervention in these situations. It's best to come prepared and manage your expectations if you're looking for a peaceful swim.

    Matemwe beach was huge and totally uncrowded - some days we were lucky to see 10 - 20 people pass by! Loved the Massai beach hawkers - friendly and laid back happy to have their pictures taken - no hassle or relentless chasing - once told 'no' they respected our space. Recommend a day trip to Nungwi for a completely different vibe and fantastic sunset. Matemwe is somewhat isolated and if you want to get around you need to secure the number of a local taxi driver - always bargain hard beforehand. Most hotels organise trips/tours but at a premium.
