- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.4Very good - What previous guests thought, 354 reviewsI’m a retired Canadian at Grinda with my older brother after earlier stays in Copenhagen and Stockholm. Grinda was the favorite part of our entire month long trip amd we hope to be back. Loved the ferry ride from Stockholm to Grinda, Grinda’s natural setting, our comfortable room, the walking trails around the island, open water swimming, the multiple restaurants and food services, the breakfast buffet, sitting out on the deck in the evening with a fresh breeze blowing in off the Baltic. The overall vibe was magnificent and the exact counterpoint we sought after crowds in more touristy areas. The staff at Grinda were fantastic, especially Thea on the front desk…so friendly, cheerful, welcoming, and helpful in addressing our many questions. She went above and beyond on all our interactions with her and will leave us with lasting happy memories.Guest review byJerryCanada
- From US$174.48 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 305 reviewsThe house is a beautiful historical building with a warm, cozy atmosphere. Our room was tastefully decorated in a classic Nordic style, giving it a charming and authentic feel—perfect for visitors coming from abroad. The rooms are exceptionally comfortable, and the entire property is impeccably clean. Breakfast was absolutely fantastic—varied, high-quality, and thoughtfully prepared. As a lovely bonus, we were able to enjoy Sunday breakfast outside in the garden thanks to the great weather. The staff were outstanding—friendly, welcoming, and full of helpful recommendations for things to do in the area. They were always willing to assist with anything we needed. An amazing stay overall. We can’t wait to come back!Guest review byAlejandraNetherlands
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.3Very good - What previous guests thought, 243 reviewsThe included breakfast was amazing - eggs, pancakes, mini croissants, fruit, cheese, bread, smoothies, fruit juices, cereal choices. The outdoor activities cost a bit extra but made the visit so great for our kids (10 & 13). We did mini golf, soccer golf, the forest obstacle course, and alpaca feeding. The staff were all super friendly and the facilities were beautiful inside and out. There is also an ice cream shop and lots of gourmet candy for sale.Guest review bySaraUnited States
- From US$148.10 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.3Very good - What previous guests thought, 2,619 reviewsI had stayed at the hotel before, so -as solo traveller this time- I rebooked without searching any other hotels. Perfect location for my travel plan, supercute room with fast internet, veeeery friendly staff, nice breakfast with a variety of goods for a low fat to a "full-extra" diet, being served also in an open area! For those who travel with the Gotland ferries or train, the hotel is next to both terminals. Being able to rent a bicycle is a plus!Guest review byChristosGreece
- From US$128.04 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.8Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 634 reviewsI travelled from abroad to attend a wedding and had such a wonderful experience at Fågelbrohus. Alma at the front desk was incredibly kind and super helpful, answering all my questions about check-in, arranging the taxi, and more. The restaurant staff were equally warm and welcoming. Truly outstanding service. I would happily recommend it 10/10!Guest review byM.D.Switzerland
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.6Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 45 reviewswe had rented a Cottage near the mainhouse. Very quiet, only short walking distance to the restaurant. Staff very friendly and helpful. Nice walkways on the island and a small beach. Easy to spend a couple of relaxing days. Ferries go to the neighbouring Islands regularly, shopping only possible in Gräddö.Guest review byDirkGermany

Room has bedsheets and a towel for you to use. Also fridge and sink. Kitchen looked big, unfortunately I didn’t have time to use it. The hostel is very close to the harbor.Guest review byUlla-RiinEstonia

We loved swimming in the sea.
We loved swimming in the sea. A bit cold (19C) doesn't matter as you can warm up in the the lovely saunas and the warm pool. It's got an awesome Stockholm archipelago feeling and view, and even a family of merganser birds (skrake). We loved the gym and the restaurant was nice. Great breakfast too!Guest review byHultmanSweden - 10.0

Vaxholm is the gateway to the Stockholm archipelago, so visiting other islands via ferry is easy. Vaxholm itself is very interesting and worth at least a couple days. If you plan on island hopping (day trips from Vaxholm), then figure an additional day per island. If you don't have time to day trip, then definitely take a boat tour to just get a feel for this gorgeous archipelago. It's stunning.Guest review byDeniseFrance - 8.0

Cute little cottage with perfect amount of space for a family of four to stay for a weekend. Well stocked kitchen, great outdoor space for playing. Big drawback was lack of blackout blinds on the windows so putting kids to bed before the sun went down (which is pretty late in summer) was difficult.Guest review byAubrey - 10.0

Sahdhamn is a beautiful island at the edge of the archipelago, so please note it can get a bit windy since there are very few islands protecting it from the sea. There are trails criss-crossing the island, so it’s easy to hike around and since it’s not very big there is no risk for getting lost. During the winter most restaurants and shops are closed, but Sandhamn Seglarhotell is open and they have delicious food. The island is transformed during the summer months with lots of people, party and a much wider range of restaurants to choose from. So, depending on what you are after, choose the season to visit Sandhamn carefully. ;-)Guest review bySandraSweden - 10.0

This was an absolutely beautiful place.
This was an absolutely beautiful place. Great value for money, insanely good food? Idk I wasn't expecting swedish food to be so good, the nightly barbecue was absolutely a highlight. Also kayaking, ice cream, hiking drinks, this place has everything.Guest review byKatieUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Vaxholm is great place to base yourself for hopping out to the more remote parts of the archipelago, as many of the ferries from Stockholm stop here before fanning out into the islands. There is a small range of cafes and restaurants, and the Thai Restaurant is particulalry good value and very friendly. The backstreets are well worth an explore, and it is only a short walk south over the bridge to the nature reserve. When the weather is good, it is simply stunning. We loved the Castle, too.Guest review bySimonUnited Kingdom - 6.0

Varmdo is a district of 10 000 islands with few towns or villages to wander around or give a sense of place and culture. It has beautiful scenery, lakes, inlets, beaches, woods and farms which made it ideal for hiking and it would have been great for cycling as well as none of the inclines were too steep or too long. There are some beautiful nature reserves such as Bjorno and Sandarna which make the amazing bistro Bjorkvik a good place to pop in for food and drink. The boat services are generally good, but it's not easy to locate information about what is running and when - even Google struggled to find where the information was hidden and repeatedly gave best guesses! If you want to explore quaint villages, pop into shops, trip over a cute cafe for a snack or engage with locals, then Varmdo is not the place for you. If you want to explore nature, hardly see a soul, wild swim, trek through forests past ancient burial mounds and occasionally see people fishing or sailing in the lakes, then add the district to your plans.Guest review byMatthewUnited Kingdom - 10.0
