My grandchildren played in a annual New Zealand Maori League Rugby Tournament held in Rotorua over the weekend from 27/9/2025 & 28/9/2025 with teams locally, nationally and Internationally participating in this tournament which would've generated much needed revenue and tourism to local business hotels and motels in the area. Almost all hotels and motels had been booked out months in advance so to find avaliable accomodation at Rotorua Hostel for my family was a god send BUT to have my reservation cancelled the day of Our booking in was A Big Disappointment and to find other accomodation within budget at last minute was impossible. Would I reccommend Rotorua Hostel NO DEFINATELY NOTGuest review byCORINAAustralia - 8.0

Traffic lights at the roundabouts that’s something we don’t see everyday. Chilled town and friendly people , I’m guessing it’s alot busier over summer . Fernland spas , relaxing , affordable, refreshing spas. Make that a must do while you are in town.Guest review byAnonymousNew Zealand - 10.0

Lovely little town with everything you might need shop wise.
Lovely little town with everything you might need shop wise. A hop, skip and a jump to Ohope beach which is absolutely gorgeous. Awateri trains an absolute must activity. Took our kids to the Awateri hot pools which were okay. Probably would not stay at camp ground. We stayed at Riverside camping ground which was great.Guest review byAndreaNew Zealand - 10.0

Beautiful beach area with all the wants of a travellers passing through or staying a for a while. Lovely cafes, restaurants and arts and crafts shops on the main street, parks for families and of course the stretch of beach from West End to the Ohope Wharf for fishing.Guest review byRaynaNew Zealand - 10.0
Despite recent news coverage Ōpōtiki is an idyllic location.
Despite recent news coverage Ōpōtiki is an idyllic location. It has most amenities, the locals are great. Small town shopping as expected but is the gateway to the East Coast with scenery to die for, fishing and swimming or just time out at the beach along this coastal stretch.Guest review byBridgetNew Zealand - 8.0

The drive to Katikati was terribly slow because of the road works. But we were greeted by the restaurant staff whom made us feel calmer & welcome. The public bar did not disappoint either. Some very friendly fellas chatted to us immediately & recommended the restaurant for a meal. We loved all the paintings & photos all around the place. Such interesting history available for us to learn. We will definetly be back to stay a bit longer & ask for out book to be signed...The Great NZ Pub Crawl. Thanks for a memorable experience.Guest review byJeffNew Zealand - 8.0
