- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 364 reviewsWhat a place to stay, it was definitely worth it! But remember you have to drive 46 km by gravel road to get there. We drove a city car Ford Fiesta (without 4x4) and we've done it! Going there by such a car, you should count around 1,5 h one way. But with these views and sense that you are in the middle of nowhere, it was such a positive thrilled adventure :) For us this town Djúpavík with a Hotel Djúpavík was the best thing, which we came across in the whole Western Fiords. Definitely worth visiting!!Guest review byGustawPoland
- From US$205.78 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.7Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 1,172 reviewsBreakfast was grate, the service at dinner was poor from the non local staff. They were on the phone during service and while between taking orders, no knife or fork at the table, had to ask for water and were not offered any drinks while reading the menu. Local staff where wonderful and everyone was very polite, also the non local staff.Guest review byMr. MortensenIceland

We only spent 1 night and 1 lunchtime in Borgarnes, so my experience was limited. We would have loved to stay longer and explore more! The walk along the seaside is beautiful and a great way to get around. The pool with its hot tubs is excellent - just go here and skip the pricey spas! The town feels so safe and there are some lovely bakeries and cafes. The Settlement Museum is well worth a visit!Guest review byAlexisUnited States - 8.0
The parking by the fall is expensive at no reason.
The parking by the fall is expensive at no reason. It offers no services, like toilets. If the weather is ok and you like walking, there is a free spot closer to the city, 1mile or 1500m, with a trail to the fall. The fall and the mountain together in a pic are the postcard you imagined.Guest review byPietroItaly - 10.0

The hike to the island is very nice, we did it at 11pm after our dinner. You have to visit the church. We loved this village and his traditional houses. We eat very well at Sjávarpakkhúsið restaurant.Guest review byEtienneSwitzerland - 10.0

Gorgeous mountain views, restaurant with delicious and fresh food overlooking the river, clean and cute camping pods with GREAT insulation, three hot tubs, dark enough at night to see the Northern Lights (even when it's cloudy!), friendly staff (family business), cozy lounge area with vinyl records and couches, troll garden, clean and easily accessible bathrooms, showers, and kitchen!Guest review byLexi NimmoUnited States - 6.0

Stayed here because there was reasonably priced accommodations mostly on route to where we were going. The town is small, doesn't appear to be too much to it. The people were nice, it felt safe, and was by the water.Guest review byJennaAustralia - 10.0

I would like to address several reviewers comments in general about the size of the bathrooms and showers. The bathrooms have been updated. the bathrooms are on the smaller side but so are most of the bathrooms in all the hotels I have stayed at in Iceland. We travel extensively and notice differences in all of the countries we have been to that are different from our own places and each place that you go. I think it is ok to mention this so other people are aware but to complain so much about it is not necessary. I would also like to mention how wonderful their water is! It can go from freezing cold to sauna hot in a matter of seconds and it is the only country that I prefer to dink from the tap! I hope this helps :)Guest review byMelissa - 10.0

Hellnar is the perfect location, close to all the major attractions on the peninsula and an ideal place to spend the night while soaking in the beauty of the landscape. There’s a charming little café just a few minutes from the Peninsula Suites that serves the best waffles with jam and whipped cream, an Icelandic classic. The views are truly out of this world, we’ve never seen anything like it. Cliffs, ocean, glacier, and moss all come together in the most breathtaking way. It’s an absolute must on your trip!Guest review byDorota KotniewiczPoland - 10.0

Small uninteresting town.
Small uninteresting town. Better to continue on to Reykjavik or stay somewheres before like Bifrost. We ate at Baza Bistro just down from Hotel Borgarnes. It was great. Food good, very generous serves and friendly staff.Guest review bySusanAustralia
