Absolute gem!! Beautiful location, perfect to use as base while exploring the area, so remote and calm. Dreamy landscapes. The hotel itself was recently refurbished, beautiful and spacious room, great bathroom. Equipped with all essentials. The breakfast was delicious and had dinner at the pub which was great quality and value for money. Staff were very helpful and going the extra mile. Cannot recommend enough :)

Breakfast was very good, rooms are clean and well-appointed, the village of Cong is an absolute gem. Staff are very friendly and courteous. We stayed at Ryan's Hotel last year and made sure to book again on this occasion; we will be staying at Ryan's in the future, no doubt. There is a patio outside, and the pub, which is accessible from within the hotel or from outside, has a wonderful atmosphere, often with live traditional music, and serves excellent food; the specialty is lamb shank. There is also a unique bookstore, specializing in national and local history that, while not accessible directly from the hotel, is nonetheless in the same building and is in some way associated with the hotel; this bookstore is well worth a visit by anyone interested in Irish history and culture and the proprietor, Robert, is a goldmine of local knowledge. We can't recommend this hotel highly enough.

From the minute we walked in the front door we where made to feel very welcome, super friendly staff who all looked like they all enjoyed working here . Special mention to Emma on reception who took time on her own initiative to show us a map of local places and areas of interest. I've stayed in 100's of hotels and Emma was one the friendliest reception staff I have ever encountered. This hotel is off the beaten track on the wild Atlantic way and is hidden gem . Spacious hotel room with a large comfortable bed . Hotel is quite large and spacious inside which is deceiving from booking site and absolutely would come back . Belmullet was a great destination for traveling around all the hidden bays in area and beyond.

Plenty of shops, bars and restaurants.

Plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. The National Museum of Ireland is just a few minutes drive away. Castlebar is ideally located for exploring County Mayo. The local library is excellent too with very friendly helpful staff who were only too willing to help with a little family history enquiry. We only stayed for one night and had our main meal in Lana, an Asian restaurant. The food was lovely and plentiful. So much so, we didn't bother with breakfast the following day.

Ballina is like most towns or cities now. Outside influences are starting to take hold. The addition of some of the fast food shops and multiple barbers is a manifestation I find worrying. The old charm of the town is not what it was.

Cong is a beautiful historic village with its own dramatic ruined Abbey and the extraordinarily beautiful woods adjacent to Ashford Castle. There are many lovely walking trails amidst the huge trees - that include some redwoods. Sadly, many trees were downed during the devastating Storm Eowyn in January 2025, so a number of trails, including access to Lough Corrib beach, have been blocked. Also, be aware that this is a popular tourist area and buses can disgorge large groups at any time during the day. All the more reason to stay overnight!

Mulranny is so central to North South East and West Mayo. We visited Achill, did Croagh Patrick and cycled the Greenway. Mulranny itself is so beautiful with lovely walkways and excellent beaches for swimming. Had a local shop well supplied and two main Bars with entertainment on the Saturday night. Westport and Newport are well worth visiting and there is so much more we did not get around to doing.

The parkrun on the greenway was lovely.

The parkrun on the greenway was lovely. We did a boat trip with seascape safaris - around the nearby islands and saw birds, seals, dolphins etc. Lots of lovely beaches, some historical monuments and several information boards at various locations around the island supplying local history. Surprising good food. We lunched , then the next day caked at , I think it was called An Dun - gorgeous food and amazing views of Sliabh Mór. We had dinner 3 nights, each hotel and Teds. All very good though my personal favourite was Teds. I would happily go back for another visit - beautiful location for walking, running, swimming or generally relaxing
