I went for one night to see a football match, but had a wander round in the afternoon. Saw old ruins of a castle by the river but it looked all shut up and there was no boards stating if it were accessible. Nice new concourse on the riverbank by the millenium bridge, but some parts of the older town near the station are a bit seedy. Plenty of the new breed of town dweller,( foreign, young, male and unemployed)Guest review byJIMUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Lots to do and see for such a small place.
Lots to do and see for such a small place. Great for walking (as long as you don't mind hills) and the castle is spectacular and well worth a visit. Some excellent real ale pubs and plenty of good cafes too.Guest review byKayUnited Kingdom - 4.0
Towels old, grey and thin. Room NOT serviced.
Towels old, grey and thin. Room NOT serviced. Got fresh towels from Reception. Bathroom had no sink plug which made wet shaving by my husband difficult to do. Shower floor very slippy when shower was in use - no bath mat, no hand grip. No bath mat for outside of shower. No soap in shower dispenser. Poor lighting, room very dark. No spare pillows We paid for bed & breakfast a dreceived a cardboard box containing cornflakes, UHT milk carton, an oat biscuit, pan au chocolates, tiny bottle of water, spoon and tissue. I am diabetic - totally unsuitable and would not have taken booking had we known. Room was clean but very strong breath taking smell of bleach which lingered for hours. Bed linen satisfactory. . Bed had a roll together mattress.Guest review byJohns - 10.0

Nice little seaside town, full of charm and a must for Gavin and Stacey fans. Very quiet out of season. There seems to be a lot of building work going on to improve facilities. Not too over commercialised, nice sandy beach with good selection of snack bars and cafes. Finegans Spanish style restaurant is brilliant with great staff. The railway station is situated on the seafront with good connections to Cardiff and local areas.Guest review byGarryUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Merthyr itself is a bit of a depressing town.
Merthyr itself is a bit of a depressing town. Lots of empty shops. A nice restaurant near the train station, Casa Bianca. A good shopping centre just outside the main town with a big M&S, a big Boots, Next, TK Max, etc. Merthyr has good roads and it's easy to get to Brecon, Swansea and Cardiff from there.Guest review byDeborahUnited Kingdom - 8.0
A nice town with plenty of good eating places in the area.
A nice town with plenty of good eating places in the area. Ideal location for visiting the Brevcons and the Forest of Dean. A dreive up to Gigrin Farm to see 100's of red kites at feeding toime was something we will never forgetGuest review byAnonymous - 6.0
The room was a good size. Location was great.
The room was a good size. Location was great. Parking was helpful. Unfortunately the front house stafs were miserable to deal with. We were woken up very early and asked to leave despite paying for late check-out. He didnt belive and asked us to provide the proof of payment. Imagine if we couldn't find the receipt. Surely there are systems they have in place to check this. It ruined our morning as we planned on having a lie-in. The while point of our late check-out was defeated.Guest review byAmara DavidUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Ponty has a charm about it and it is nice to see a high street with shops that are not all charity shops. The park is lovely, and a lot is going on nearly all the time. There's a market there on Thursdays, and although small, adds to the charm. Some really nice food places to eat catering for all tastes.Guest review byLuke
