- From US$162.07 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 300 reviewsThe staff were super friendly. My room was in the courtyard. It had a lovely sitting room with a bathroom at the rear (lovely big walk in power shower), and my bed was on the mezzanine. There was a velux window above the bed. I left the blind up and fell asleep looking at the stars. The staff went out of their way and did an early breakfast for me. There was plenty to choose from. It was really tasty and set me up nicely for the day ahead. I stayed two nights. Looking forward to coming back up. Will definitely stay here again. It exceeded all my expectations.Guest review byTroyUnited Kingdom
- From US$168.82 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.6Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 416 reviewsSuch a charming Bnb with a popular pub on the property. Our room was located above the pub so it's quite nosy until the pub closes around midnight, but this is well-stated at booking (maybe providing some ear plugs in case the guests don't have their own is a good idea). The room is very spacious, well-decorated and clean. The dinner is amazing (much more than just regular pub fare) and breakfast was very very delicious.Guest review byLayneUnited States
- From US$128.30 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 981 reviewsIt was our second time back at Battlestead’s and it lived up to our previous memories of it and we loved staying in the luxury rooms which are private and give you a fabulous view of the stars from the deck outside . It is worth the money spent to stay in such a unique boutique hotel that is sustainable on many fronts .Guest review byAnjaliIndia
- From US$235 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.6Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 389 reviewsI loved the place and the staff - particularly the lovely man on reception who's worked there for 21 years who let me have a swim after dinner. He says the staff are more like family than colleagues. Would highly recommend.Guest review byNeilCzech Republic

Wooler is the perfect base to explore so much of wonderful Northumberland. The Cheviot hills are on your doorstep, literally walking distance and it is very easy to get to the coast, Lindesfarne and many other places just 30 minutes drive away. A small market town with a high street packed with great shops, pubs, takeaways and cafes; we recommend the Terrace cafe for excellent all day breakfasts and great coffee . The town is particularly good for those who like browsing antique and bric a brac shops, there was even an Auction when we were there.Guest review byHeskiaUnited Kingdom - 8.0

A pleasant little town with a fair selection of eateries. Has a railway station with services to Newcastle and Carlisle (plus Hexham, Brampton and other small towns/villages). There are also buses.Guest review byPeterUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Bellingham is only a small village but it has everything you need to make your stay comfortable. There's a couple of nice gift shops, some lovely little cafes, a butchers, coop, a couple of pubs and lots of nice local walks. It's also located near to other local attractions like Kielder Forest and the observatory.Guest review byLindsayUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Bardon Mill village has a decent pub, the Bowes Hotel, which serves reasonable food at a fairly cheap price. The Twice Brewed Inn serves gastropub food of a very high quality, and the prices are good for the quality. A car is essential to reach these places. They are walkable, but the routes do not favour travel on foot, especially in the evening. There is a Sainsbury supermarket within travelling distance by car, SatNav is essential, but be prepared for several detours before reaching your destination!Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

Typical country village but with the catering facilities you tend to expect from a small town. Italian restaurant La Mensa is superb. Warning though, the hotels are not modern. Two National Trust properties to be recommended, Cragside is 5 minutes drive and Wallington is one of the NT's best kept secrets, an absolute gem. An ideal central spot for visiting all of Northumberland. A short drive from two spectacular beauty spots: the Northumbrian coast to the east and the National Park and Cheviots to the west. Two of the best castles in the country: Alnwick and Bamburgh both within 30 minutes drive, plus Scotland 40 minutes to the north and Newcastle 40 minutes to the south.Guest review byGrahamUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Wark is a small village, people are very friendly, it has a pub, a shop, a coffee shop and a hotel, it is quite rural with plenty of walking opportunities. We travelled by car to Alnwick and visited the castle and the historic town then down the coast road to Amble a lovely seaside town.Guest review byAnonymousUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Beautiful scenery and so quiet - perfection.
Beautiful scenery and so quiet - perfection. We ate in the hotel and had an excellent meal in the evening. The breakfast menu had a good variety to choose from - the full Scottish breakfast was fantastic and highly recommended. We were visiting relatives so didn’t have time to walk but given more time would explore the hills around. We ventured into nearby Kelso which was a lovely town with a lot to offerGuest review byFiona - 8.0
