- From US$348.68 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.7Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 39 reviewsOn arrival, the receptionist quickly checked us in and showed us to our room. This was not in the main building but across the road. The room was warm, fully stocked with treats and homely with all mod cons. Breakfast was served in the main building and up some fairly steep stairs. It was a buffet style with hot food to order. Staff were very helpful and went the extra mile.Guest review byHannahUnited Arab Emirates

Breakfast was lovely, staff very friendly and helpful. Shame we only stayed one night, so we didn't get to make use of the games room or the spa facilities. Hexham is a beautiful market town, a place where people live and work - not touristy but with everything a tourist might want e.g. cafes, restaurants, arts events, a cinema. Great public transport connections to Newcastle and Carlisle. Exceptional countryside - Hadrian's Wall of course, but don't forget the North Pennines for remote wild walks.Guest review byKateUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Great location if you plan to visit Barnard Castle.
Great location if you plan to visit Barnard Castle. It is a lovely market town, the market is on Wednesday. Parking is an issue so we parked at the Bowes Museum car park which is free and walked into the town. Lots of good cafe's and some interesting shopping. The location also gives the chance to visit Raby Castle which is only a short drive away and we rate highly.Guest review byLynch - 8.0

Great staff, excellent facilities and set in wonderful grounds, might be a bit isolated for some but for us it was an added bonus. Food was excellent, a buffet style breakfast but poached eggs cooked to order were brilliant and the one evening meal we ate in the restaurant did not disappoint. The spa area was immaculately clean and is well set out with a great steam room and more than adequate sauna, would have booked a treatment but our agenda did not allow. The main car park is some distance away and at the bottom of a steep hill, there is a drop off point and blue badge parking at the entrance but would advise booking this space if it is essential to you. All in all a great experience and likely to book again if we revisit the area.Guest review byJohnUnited Kingdom - 10.0

To us was just right, quiet village, no noisy roads, good access to land marks and close enough to markets and restaurants. A recommended local pub that we did not visit. A great local ancient walnut tree with historyGuest review byDaiseUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Bardon Mill village has a decent pub, the Bowes Hotel, which serves reasonable food at a fairly cheap price. The Twice Brewed Inn serves gastropub food of a very high quality, and the prices are good for the quality. A car is essential to reach these places. They are walkable, but the routes do not favour travel on foot, especially in the evening. There is a Sainsbury supermarket within travelling distance by car, SatNav is essential, but be prepared for several detours before reaching your destination!Guest review byAnonymous - 6.0

We booked accommodation for evening at Grassholme observatory - clear night and knowledgeable and enthusiatic leaders. Middleton in Teesdale had a selecd.tion of pubs/restaurants but very little else. However trips to High Force and Bowes musuem, made the weekend enjoyable.Guest review byAndrew - North YorkshireUnited Kingdom - 8.0
