FAQs about hotels in England
The Small Country with Big Appeal
For a relatively small country, England certainly manages to pack in a wealth of tourist attractions, from Land’s End all the way to Berwick-upon-Tweed.
Words can’t do justice to the capital London - an exciting mix of famous sights, royalty and vibrant life. Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham are fabulous cities that have emerged from their industrial past to be cutting-edge centres of culture.
Newcastle, Leeds and Bristol are well known for their buzzy music scene, while sedate Oxford and Cambridge are famous for their universities and punting. Stately York still maintains its city walls and Windsor has the wonderful castle where the Queen often resides.
Sheffield and Derby border the magnificent Peak District, while the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales are close to Blackpool, one of England’s favourite beach destinations. Other very popular beaches are in Brighton, Eastbourne, Torquay and Scarborough.
With a beautifully rugged coastline, mystical Cornwall has England hotels in the country, as do the Cotswolds where stone houses line picturesque villages. The Georgian spa cities of Bath and Harrogate also have impressive stone architecture.
This is just the tip of the iceberg of what England has to offer, but wherever you visit, you can be sure that Booking.com has a fantastic range of apartments, B&Bs and hotels in England to choose from.

London has it all. But be warned. There is too much to see.
London has it all. But be warned. There is too much to see. That is why we have to keep coming back to this incredible city. And see something new or revisit again the special places. On my recent visit I chose Leicester Square and Theatre Land for my start on Day 1. Then an evening walk down to the Mall to enjoy a perfect evening near to the Palace. Day 2 was a walk to the British Library and St. Pancras to marvel at the incredible station. Then to the British Museum for the afternoon. So much to see. Then down to South Kensington for the evening. Day 3 was the National Gallery and down to the River Thames for the London Eye and a wander over Westminster Bridge to Big Ben. It is so easy to get round London. Everytime I visit I just top up my Oyster Card and we are off on another Adventure ! London can't be covered in a few days so the only way is to come back for more !Guest review byChristopherUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Really impressive city with amazing architecture and history. Lots to see and do - plenty to meet the needs of a wide variety of travellers. Enjoyed the hop-on hop-off city tour. Can also recommend the tour of Anfield if a LFC fan.Guest review byStevieUnited Kingdom - 2.0
Birmingham a complete dump.
Birmingham a complete dump. Never been before and will certainly never go again. Rubbish everywhere. Road signs suggested very unpleasant goings on. A real eye opener and sad to see in our country such a mess.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

Very nice city with a lovely city centre, University, parks, musea and attractions such as the Castle, the market and the coastal area. It also has many nice restaurants, cafes and pubs. The Imperial Hotel restored my faith in Blackpool Hotels.
The Imperial Hotel restored my faith in Blackpool Hotels. Alas, so many untidy/run-down former shops & stalls scattered intermittently along the promenade. However, Blackpool is Blackpool & it does what it says on the tin.Guest review bybassclefUnited Kingdom - 10.0
The location was perfect for flying out the next morning.
The location was perfect for flying out the next morning. We did choose to pay for the shuttle to Terminal 5, rather than haul our luggage on the free train. It's a very nice hotel, the room was small but comfortable for 1 night, and the beds were fine, though a little on the firm side as the English seem to like. We had a very nice Indian dinner at the Urban Brass conveniently located in the hotel lobby. The Indian choices were authentic and delicious, not overly spicy as Indian food goes. I think the Indian choices are better than the English side of the menu, as it is primarily Indian with a very friendly staff from India. I would recommend this hotel.Guest review byMarilynUnited States - 10.0

Best places to visit include the SS Great Britain and the M Shed (a free to enter museum) which are quite close together along the waterfront. Also the cathedral was vey interesting. Lots of cafes and restaurants everywhere. Use of the water ferry a bonus to get from place to place. We even used the ferry to get to the railway station at the end of our trip.Guest review byJoyceUnited Kingdom - 10.0
There is so much to do in York!
There is so much to do in York! We were there for a wedding in the museum gardens but managed to do some walking around town! Some great places we ate: Fat Hippo - delish burgers and different fries (don't get the fried pickles unless you like them soggy!) Bettys tea rooms - for afternoon tea but we also had breakfast - scrambled egg bacon and english muffin sooo filling and cooked to perfection! We also went into a few of the pubs/bars in this area and they were all great fun some of which had live music I would love to return and do some of the history and ghost tours!Guest review byLinzyUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Leeds is a city full of culture historic buildings and places and university. The areas near the river are getting more regeneration to make it attractive to locals and tourists. It’s buzzing with young people and night life. There’s a range of galleries and museums ,the library is a must visit . The variety of Restaurants and cafes offer satisfaction to all tastes and ages. I was pleasantly impressed with what Leeds has to offer. And the future is bright for this lovely city.Guest review bySamiaUnited Kingdom
