FAQs about hotels in England
The Small Country with Big Appeal
For a relatively small country, England certainly manages to pack in a wealth of tourist attractions, from Land’s End all the way to Berwick-upon-Tweed.
Words can’t do justice to the capital London - an exciting mix of famous sights, royalty and vibrant life. Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham are fabulous cities that have emerged from their industrial past to be cutting-edge centres of culture.
Newcastle, Leeds and Bristol are well known for their buzzy music scene, while sedate Oxford and Cambridge are famous for their universities and punting. Stately York still maintains its city walls and Windsor has the wonderful castle where the Queen often resides.
Sheffield and Derby border the magnificent Peak District, while the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales are close to Blackpool, one of England’s favourite beach destinations. Other very popular beaches are in Brighton, Eastbourne, Torquay and Scarborough.
With a beautifully rugged coastline, mystical Cornwall has England hotels in the country, as do the Cotswolds where stone houses line picturesque villages. The Georgian spa cities of Bath and Harrogate also have impressive stone architecture.
This is just the tip of the iceberg of what England has to offer, but wherever you visit, you can be sure that Booking.com has a fantastic range of apartments, B&Bs and hotels in England to choose from.

- From US$65.67 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 6.4Pleasant - What previous guests thought, 11,547 reviewsThe hotel is in a very good location, near the beach and the promenade, with a building rich in history. The architecture and history are beautiful. It used to be luxurious, and that's still noticeable. Our room was on the 5th floor. Comfortable bed, renovated bathroom, dry, and clean. I especially want to mention the staff. My son got sick with a high fever, and we needed a late checkout at 5 p.m. They accommodated us without charging for an extra night and allowed us to stay for a very symbolic additional fee. We definitely want to come back.Guest review byBogdanUkraine

Natural history museum was very interesting, Kensington was beautiful and Borough market was fascinating. The tube was great although a little confusing sometimes and a lot of steps to negotiate. London beer is awful and expensive.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

Went to the Halle orchestra concert in the Bridgewater Hall; excellent concert and the orchestra is definitely worth hearing. The city centre seemed remarkably clean and we liked the free circular bus route (no.1) from the station.Guest review byJohnUnited Kingdom - 8.0
The Albert Docks / Pier Head area of Liverpool is vibrant.
The Albert Docks / Pier Head area of Liverpool is vibrant. The Museum of Liverpool and Beatles Experience are well worth a visit, as is a ride on the famous Ferry Across the Mersey. Unfortunately the Tate Liverpool was closed for refurbishment during my visit. Albert Docks has restaurants for all tastes.Guest review byTimothyUnited Kingdom - 2.0
Birmingham a complete dump.
Birmingham a complete dump. Never been before and will certainly never go again. Rubbish everywhere. Road signs suggested very unpleasant goings on. A real eye opener and sad to see in our country such a mess.Guest review byAnonymous - 8.0

Such a lovely place is Newcastle.its great for shopping and seeing the history of the city. But mostly, is the friendliness of the people. Certainly felt safe. Even walking in the evening. Great places to eat, I recommend Pho The food was delious and price was good too. Also Babucho, amazing food and great for special occasions. Brilliant service at both restaurants. Wetherspoons is another. With 3 floors you'll always find a seat and breakfast was lush. It is easy getting round Newcastle, either walking, bus which has many buses going to different areas and Uber if your in a hurry. Night life is great for the young at heart 😉 Revolutions and revolutions de Cuba are great place to go for drinks and a good old boogie, excellent service.Guest review byAnnUnited Kingdom - 8.0

The buffet breakfast was ideal for us and in a very quiet and peaceful setting. There were people around to help you to a seat and so the dining room didn't seem too overcrowded. The staff greeted us and that made a difference to our experience for breakfast!! The room was better than expected and we took a walk in the evening despite it being on a busy road. The reception staff helped with information about the shuttle bus to our terminal and it all worked well. We ate in the evening at the pub down the road which was very busy but good value food.Guest review byElaineUnited Kingdom - 4.0

A city of 2 personalities: Exciting, vibrant, community-driven, great food and music scene. At the same time it is highly unpleasant: Drugs, homeless, dirty, unsafe, no-go areas and car crime. It's a melting pot. Be prepared.Guest review byPaulUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Please make plans of what you want to see as it is easier to book venues and you can plan your trip and use time wisely. York is a wonderful place for food, drink and variety. This trip I went on my own for the first time after visiting York many years with my husband, Since his death I wasn't sure if I could do this alone but I did and it was wonderful. I have limited mobility and use a stick but there are plenty of areas to sit and rest. York is so easy to get around - if you can get to York by train I suggest you do so as you really don't need a car. You can hop on and off the tour bus- recommended. The taxi drivers in York are so helpful and friendly. All cafe's and restaurants make you welcome and want to help you. I've never been anywhere in York where people are not helpful. I love the place and now I know I can manage alone I will be back very soon. I recommend the Hilton on Tower Road - very central and staff are amazing.Guest review byGwendalotUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Leeds is a city full of culture historic buildings and places and university. The areas near the river are getting more regeneration to make it attractive to locals and tourists. It’s buzzing with young people and night life. There’s a range of galleries and museums ,the library is a must visit . The variety of Restaurants and cafes offer satisfaction to all tastes and ages. I was pleasantly impressed with what Leeds has to offer. And the future is bright for this lovely city.Guest review bySamiaUnited Kingdom
