The accommodation was clean, and the breakfast was a typical English one, which was great. The pillows were comfortable, and the hotel has an excellent location with amazing views and a really kind and helpful staff. We even ended up extending our stay by one more night. Thank you very much, and we will definitely come back! :)

Nice town, excellent cafes and pubs. Interesting tour bus, lots of nice drop of points to see, specially beachy head and seven sisters. Not too pricey either and the ticket lasts for 24 hours. Hastings town and surrounding areas has everything - old and new town with excellent shops, food shops and bars in all areas. Plenty to do and arty things to see. Friendly locals always willing to stop for a chat, and a super helpful library when I enquired about a local church. Streets and pavements were kept clean with plenty of litter bins around. Sadly, as with all towns, Hastings seems to have its fair share of rough sleepers.

Friendly people, smiling faces. Very historic and amazing views from the Castle especially. 9 pubs within a 3 minute walk, all serving food. A plethora of restaurants, my favourite being Rustico which sells delicious Pastas and Pizzas. Fantastic bus services to and from surrounding towns and villages, stretching from Eastbourne to Brighton. Good train services and fast ones to London.

We were booked for one night in Bexlet.

We were booked for one night in Bexlet. The accommodation was awful. The bed linen, sheets, duvet and pillows were all damp and the heater did not work. The access was extremely difficult. The male contact by phone was not interested in our complaints. We decided it would be inadvisable to stay, as my husband had just recovered from pneumonia. We were lucky to manage to book in to another hotel which was excellent although it cost us £160 extra, We had stayed there before through Booking.com. For Bexlet I would give them zero out of ten and I still cannot believe that Booking, com could have actually checked out that accommodation. Dreadful.

Battle is a pretty little town and very compact.

Battle is a pretty little town and very compact. The Abbey and battle ground is good to see as it is a major part of this country's history. However, if you opt to walk around the battlefield make sure you make use of the free audio guide as this brings the history to life as opposed to just looking at a field. The Abbey/battlefield and town can be done in a day, but it is a good idea to have an overnight stay so that you can pace yourself and fully enjoy the place.

A sweet little village shop full of fresh fruit and basics. The village itself set in a beautiful part of the country, Eric Ravilious views everywhere. A range of pubs, some discreet luxury hotels now, some just relaxed medieval inns full of beams and cosy nooks. Independent, upmarket shops. Surrounded by walks and ancient churches, like St Michael's & All Angels at Berwick, which is unmatched for its calm simplicity and Bloomsbury artwork
