We loved Vannes.
We loved Vannes. The old town is so interesting with its medieval buildings and hidden streets and squares. It is so close to the port with its waterside activities. We visited the Cathedral and the Musee de Beaux Arts, Despite ongoing renovations at the Cathedral we still found lots to look at. The ramparts and gardens are also well worth a look. There were plenty of places to eat. The day we visited the old town it poured with rain so we had wonderful moules frites opposite the cathedral. We went to the Interceltique Festival at Lorient. The town was virtually rebuilt after World War 2 damage and is therefore not all that aesthetically pleasing in itself. we went to Carnac because of the prehistoric history and the stone alignments. we were not disappointed. Auray is a pretty little town and it has a wonderful market on Mondays. One of the best French markets we have been to. There is plenty to explore in the Morbihan (we used the trains a lot as well as our car) We recommend two sights in particular: 1. the megalith stones at Carnac 2. Le Palais is the main town in Belle Ile, which is well named...
Le Palais is the main town in Belle Ile, which is well named as it is beautiful. It has restaurants, creperies and interesting shops as well as tourist ones. Pontivy is a pleasant town, ideally located for a stopover if you are travelling along the Nantes Brest Canal. The architecture is very charming, a mix of Napoleonic and medieval buildings. The countryside around Larmor Plage is beautiful though...

The apartment is modern, fresh and light in à quiet residential area. Bus stops on the doorstep for to and from the centre of Vannes. There is nothing at all to dislike about this property. We were welcomed by Audrey, who gave us all the information we needed to ensure à trouble free stay - she was so friendly and helpful, and came to collect the keys on our departure.
