FAQs about hotels in Alsace
A Mouthful of History, Architecture and Food
One of the most important regions in the European Union because of its number of international organisations, Alsace is also the smallest region in mainland France. Stretched along the upper Rhine, this is an area of tumultuous history, great architecture and distinctive cuisine.
The Alsace capital, Strasbourg, features one of the most beautiful European cathedrals and a very photogenic Old Town with cobbled streets and half-timbered townhouses. You can find picturesque castles, villages and churches all around this petite region.
But Alsace is not just known for its man-made structures. It also boasts the low, densely forested Vosges Mountains with glacial lakes, great hiking trails and charming waterfalls. Not to mention its vineyards and the famous Alsatian Vineyard Route, stretching from Wissembourg to Thann and incorporating 67 towns and villages.
A visit to the region wouldn’t be complete without trying some of the famous Alsatian cuisine. Said to be the birthplace of sauerkraut, this is one of the best places to try tarte flambée, a delicious creation of onion, bacon and crème fraiche.
Whether you opt for one of the hotels de charme in Alsace, a stylish apartment or a friendly B&B, Booking.com has a great range on offer 24/7!

While it was rainy when we were is Strasbourg, we enjoyed walking around the historic centre which is compact and easily walkable for someone in their 80s as are my wife and I. We particularly liked place Kleber, around the corner from our hotel and the area around the cathedral.Guest review byGrantCanada - 10.0
An absolutely delightful city to visit!
An absolutely delightful city to visit! Stunning river views and picturesque side streets make it a joy to explore on foot. The local cuisine is fantastic and definitely worth trying. For activities like river cruises, I recommend booking in advance, as they are very popular and fill up quickly. A city full of charm and unforgettable experiences!Guest review byKaraTurkey - 10.0

A charming city, especially the old town with it's cobble paved streets and character shops and cafés. The museum is a must visit attraction. It a good base to explore the region and discover the charming villages and neighbouring towns. We found the people to be friendly and most helpful especially to non French speaking visitors. Visitors need to familiarise themselves with the general opening and closing times of the shops during the week.Guest review byPETERSouth Africa - 6.0

I am French so I was happy to stay in France while visiting Basel. Because of the poor experience we had in the apartment, we moved to another one in Switzerland. We found a very charming village with beautiful architecture and nature around. Switzerland must have been wealthier than this part of France for a long time and it shows.Guest review byFRANCKUnited States - 10.0

Very clean and safe. Perfect location for a short Elzas discovery trip. Highway to Straatsburg and Colmar/Mulhouse is only 5 mins away. On the other hand it's also a very short drive to get up in the mountains.Guest review byKarmenBelgium - 10.0
Beautiful village with half-timbered houses in the heart of...
Beautiful village with half-timbered houses in the heart of the wine-growing region of Alsace. Very touristy during the daytime, but the crowds thin out considerably in the evening, leaving the storks in peace with those discerning enough to have booked somewhere to stay in the village itself. Eating out is expensive and the quality is mediocre. Nobody needs to try hard here, because the location is stunning and people will keep coming back even when service is poor. Some spectacular castle ruins are hiking distance from the village. The picturesque city of Colmar is within easy reach. The historic village of Turckheim is worth visiting when the town watchman does his nightly rounds of the walls, wishing all the sleeping inhabitants a "guati Nacht" in the Alsacien language.Guest review byThe Language SecretGermany - 10.0

This is a very charming old town, very colourful and historical, in the midst of the Alsace vineyards. A stay of 2-3 days is enough to take in the local history, the delightful shops and the surrounding countryside.Guest review byAlanNew Zealand - 10.0

We were pleasantly surprised by our stay, especially for the price. The rooms were nice, clean, and spacious enough, with the added convenience of parking and being super close to the tram. The breakfast was absolutely delicious! Even though we expected to share a bathroom, we were happy to find a shower in the room, only the toilets were shared.Guest review byManuelaSpain - 10.0

Good food in several restaurants in the car-free old town area. Lots of walking and bicycling paths. Good travel connections. Friendly people. Spent two days up in the Val d’Argent at the European Quilt Meeting.Guest review byJoan Hug-ValerioteCanada - 10.0

This is such a picturesque town with lovely people. The wine! Fantastic. Things don't really open before 10. But the municipal spirit is exemplary. Each business puts great effort into its appearance and shows lovely civic pride.Guest review byEndaUnited Kingdom
