Great space to experience. Specifically, Gutenberg Museum is excellent. You can take Köln or Frankfurt airplane, then take the train to arrive Mainz. Mainz is full of lots of public spaces, cafes, restaurants, etc.Guest review byYavuz - 10.0

Altstadt and Deutsche Ecke, cable cart over the Rhine to castle, Altes Brauhaus. Options to make Rhine/Mosel cruise (from 1-3 hrs). Many nice restaurants and (whine)bars. Live music in cafe Hahn, Irish pub and some other locations (check locally). Good public transport (for e.g. to go to cafe Hahn or to Oktoberfest). Pitty that renting a simple bike is not so easy (not so many options, no guided bike tours offered, renting a bike is usually an electric bike, not cheap). If you want to make a bike tour, bring bike yourself. Also usefull to use instead of local transportation. Although a brief visit we were in Speyer to specifically visit the Technik Museum both there and in Sinsheim about a 45 minute drive away. Would thoroughly recommend a visit to these museums, something there for all ages and very family friendly. If you have business in Mannheim, I would recommend not staying in Ludwigshafen am Rhein. Sure they are only separated by the Rhein river but things could have been much easier in my case if I had found property in Mannheim. We walked the route - Rotweinwanderweg -it was spectacular and we had lovely lunch at Marienthal. Make sure where to catch the bus back. Worms is a city of historical significance, severely battered by WW2. The cathedral is impressive, the role Worms played in European Medieval history left some traces, and the city prides itself in the references made to it in the Nibelungen-legend. There is a monument commemorating the trial against Marten Luther in 1520, and the nice river front has a Nibelungen sculpture. This is a good one-day or mid-day stop-over for tourist with a deep interest in German and European history.
