- From US$462.19 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.6Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 662 reviewsThis hotel is pristine clean, the facilities wonderful, and a lovely location right on the side of the lake. However, what makes the hotel even more wonderful is the staff; they were incredibly friendly and accommodating, delivering an excellent customer service throughout our stay. I think this is more appreciated as we were English and spoke hardly any German, and it was a predominantly German hotel (as we expected). This was the first stop on our Honeymoon, and they were wonderful on upgrading our room so that it had views of both the mountains and the lake, adding rose petals on the bed, they decorated the table formally for our first dinner, and as a farewell they gave us a bottle of sparkling wine. I particular want to identify two members of staff who were particularly lovely ; Lara who was on reception and greeted us to the hotel was very nice and made us feel very welcome. And Sören, who we believe was the restaurant manager, and who looked after us on both evening meals, and whose customer service was outstanding, ensuring we were comfortable the entire time.Guest review byMeganUnited Kingdom
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.8Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 484 reviewsAmazing view from the balcony, very well appointed , comfortable and spacious apartment which seemed to have been recently refurbished. Really friendly and helpful receptionist. Although not connected with the apartments, the bar / restaurant downstairs is great and super convenient. Car parking is also super convenient underneath the building, it’s free and you even get your own reserved space. Generally, a wonderful place to base yourself for a few days in southern Bavaria. We had a wonderful time. Thank you!Guest review byJohnUnited Kingdom

Plus points for us was tesla charger included in cost, we are a family of vegetarians and vegans and we're well catered for. Ate in restaurant for 3 meals, all excellent with great service. Staff very friendly and helpful. We opted for a balcony room for one of us which was amazing with views of neuschwanstein Castle and the lake and mountains. 2 other rooms were without the view but were large and comfortable.Guest review bySarahUnited Kingdom

Our room was awesome; had two balconies, one had a view of the Neuschwanstein Castle and the other looked out over the gorgeous lake. The included breakfast is likely the best one we've had; lots of choices! Staff was wonderful and very accommodating. The available parking was very handy as well. We just left the car there and walked around as everything is in close proximity.Guest review byNonaItaly

We LOVED Fűssen!
We LOVED Fűssen! The old charm feel, the energetic cafe night time vibe, the many walking/biking paths to explore the area and the quaint neighborhood charm made it a wonderful destination. I wish we stayed longer. We ate at Ludwig’s and sat in the Swan seats. The food was delicious and the inside decor was charming. We also rode our bikes to Neuschwanstein Castle which was 15-20 minutes away. There were so many bike paths throughout the area that we were able to visit many places on bikes.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

Hohenschwangau is a very busy and very touristy place,...
Hohenschwangau is a very busy and very touristy place, especially in summer but you can still enjoy the area and visit the castles if you plan things a little. Firstly, I strongly suggest you book your tickets in advance as you must visit the castles at an appointed time. Secondly, in spite of the fact that you only have barely half an hour inside Neuschwanstein Castle and 45 minutes at Hohenschwangau Castle, the lead up times (how long it takes to get there from Hohenschwangau village, and then how far in advance you need to be at the Castle gates), you will find that you will probably take close to an entire day to visit both Castles! Allow at least 3 hours for Neuschwanstein (queue for the bus, walk to Marienbrucke for a spectacular view, be at the Castle entrance at least 15 minutes before entry, 30 minutes for the tour, another 30-40 minutes for the walk downhill), and at least 2-3hrs for Hohenschwangau Castle). While you cannot plan the weather, obviously for the best views over the lakes and the countryside will be in sunshine, but there's no reason you cannot enjoy the castles even in rain or snow, however transportation may be limited in some weather. It's a long slog up the hill to walk to Neuschwanstein (not so bad for Hohenschwangau) so recommend spending the EUR 3.50 per person to take the bus (pretty scary windy drive!) or splurge and take the horse drawn carriage! It's a nice walk down from both castles. Lots of places to stop for a snack or a meal in Hohenschwangau but of course at tourist prices!Guest review byRobinAustralia - 8.0

Magical place to stay for winter holidays, surrounded with lots of ski and tobogganing tracks, great communication with another villages. Food scene quite limited , same as night entertainment, I would rather to have a bit more of this to spend betters nights.Guest review byvitelio enrique - 10.0
I did not enter any of the castles or museums.
I did not enter any of the castles or museums. I had done that 50 years ago, as a student in Munich. I liked just walking around, soaking up the tourist vibe, predominantly Chinese. I even liked the rainy-sunny mix of weather, so characteristic of the Allgaue region.Guest review byDavidUnited States - 10.0
We loved the tiny town with everything so close by.
We loved the tiny town with everything so close by. It was so clean and the people really lovely. It was fantastic catching up with family after 28 years!! We had the best breakfast at Hotel Lowen and a really great pizza and pasta night at I’ll Castro . Very good value and excellent traditional food. We used Nesselwang as a base and daily went on trips. We visited Salzburg, Innsbruck , Lake Konigsee, Lake Konstanz, Heididorf in Switzerland and so much more.Guest review byTessa Van vulpenAustralia - 10.0

This is a great area if you like a quiet village, nature, walking, hiking, biking, swimming in nearby lakes. My hotel, Alpenblick, was a perfect location for all of this. Having a car helps, but there are buses to most places in the area and train connections from nearby towns. One big hub is Steingaden from where you can get to most places. This area is a good place to slow down, relax, recuperate if you are living in a fast paced city and all that it entails. People are friendly and helpful if the hotel staff are anything to go by.Guest review bySpJGermany - 10.0

We loved staying in an apartment in the same building that the family was living in, in a rural location close to hiking. The family was wonderful and told us much about the area which was fascinating to us. We had a car, so that was very good since there are not many options for public transportation from the little village. Our main goal was to visit the Tannheim area with its famous cow parade every September which we did. We enjoyed being able to prepare our own food in the apartment kitchen.Guest review byNancyUnited States - 8.0

A small, quiet town (or big village!) but excellently located for many kms of walking and cycling routes (and cross-country skiing in Winter - I was there in late May, but would like to return in winter), covering easy to hard options; Also close to two lovely lakes (the Vilsalpsee and the Haldensee)Guest review byFerryenoUnited Kingdom - 10.0

The beautiful hotel Schwarzenbach is highly recommended, we will come back soon! Very friendly staff/service, clean, lovely breakfast, very good cook, beautiful view to the lake and the rolling hills...... We had a tour inside the Castle of Neuschwanstein, went to Reutte/Austria and to Oberammergau near Zugspitze. The dark beer King Ludwig is my favorite!Guest review byChristianeGermany
