Beautiful village, access to Zugspitze, Partnach Gorge, great olde world charm, stunning views, fresh air, great place to holiday and relax. Free buses to get around, great Asian food just around the corner, probably 100 metres and reasonably priced. Great trip to Lindenhof palace and gardens, Zugspitze, Partnach Gorge and Mittenwald Cow Parade, the highlight of my stay in Garmisch Partenkirchen.Guest review byCherylAustralia - 10.0

A picturesque little village with a train station to the Zugspitze, outdoor and indoor swimming and saunas, beautiful mini-golf, lots of hiking trails, and good connections, e.g., Garmisch to Partenkirchen and the Austrian side. It is only under a 1,5 h drive from Munich.Guest review byTiinaFinland - 10.0

We've been to Mittenwald many times and it's one of my favorite places in the region. It's a beautiful village with lots to see and do. There are many places to hike and a cable car trip to the top of Karwendel is a great way to spend a day.Guest review byCarolynUnited States - 10.0
Ettals main, and only, attraction is the Abbey.
Ettals main, and only, attraction is the Abbey. Which is certainly impressive. You'll most likely visit Ettal for the region, as it is a great point to start your hikes and/or visit Oberammergau and Garmisch-Partenkichen. Munchen and Innsbruck are only an hour drive away.Guest review byArthurNetherlands - 10.0

Farchant is a great stay if you want to be out of the busyness of Garmisch-Partenkirchen but not too far away to be a moment away. Great local food and welcoming people, have been coming here for years and plan to return. The atlas hotel has a great restaurant with lots of choice and it’s easy to get to with the train station from Munich or Garmisch-Partenkirchen.Guest review byChristopherUnited Kingdom - 8.0

There is not much happening in Klais, other than a few walks or cross country skiing in winter. Now in autumn it is a lovely, quiet base for all sorts of excursions in the vicinity. Mittenwald and Garmisch Partenkirchen are only a few km away.Guest review byJeffreySouth Africa - 8.0
Krun was a beautiful, quiet little town.
Krun was a beautiful, quiet little town. There were shops, restaurants and several supermarkets. Although the main supermarket in town is very popular so can get extremely busy. It was also easy to hire bikes in town, to enjoy the many different trails. The cows (with their bells) going to their milking sheds at 5.30 pm, was always a nice treat.Guest review byJonathanUnited Kingdom - 10.0
We visited GAP 37 years ago so some things have changed...
We visited GAP 37 years ago so some things have changed quite a bit. It now has quite a variety of places to eat - Italian, Asian, Pizza on every corner and an international crowd of tourists. We really had to search to find traditional German food and when we did it was mediocre. Many restaurants do not open until 5pm. If they are open for lunch, it's usually from 11:30-2:00 so keep track of the time. Highly recommend reservations if you want to eat dinner between 5:30-8:30pm. We were there in September. It was sunny and it was hot. Most hotels and restaurants do not have air conditioning. Depending on your time, consider taking the cog train from town to The Zugspit and then the cable car down. Go on a clear, good weather day otherwise you will waste a lot of money. If you are in decent shape, consider the hike at the Partnachklamm Gorge..bring a flashlight and a light rain jacket. Of course if it's a hot day, you will welcome the cool water spray. Eibsee is a beautiful, clean lake with a small beach and hiking paths. One thing that hasn't change is the heavy, stop & go traffic getting to G-P. Allow at least an additional hour driving than what you were planning.Guest review byCarolynUnited States - 8.0
The staff at the hotel were great.
The staff at the hotel were great. Special thanks to Agga and the Moroccan chef in the restaurant. They both made things easier for our family with allergies. The hotel does need to identify food where there are possible contamination issues like identifying Milk or Gluten in our case. There was no signage to indicate, we were left to ask and trust both the above. Restaurant and reception staff were good. The area is beautiful and unfortunate for us that it rained everyday. I would personally recommend this area as a winter resort. But there were plenty of hikers and bike riders around. many places to visit for the scenery too.Guest review byAndy8766United Kingdom
