Very nice rooms with amazing views (even the mountain view), excellent breakfast, very kind personnel always helpful, many options for eating, all very good (especially the Titschli), lovely bar lounge with a wonderful pianoman singing in the evenings (thank you G D Angelo for the enchanting after dinner music), fabulous spa and very good kids spa too (enjoyable by parents as well), not to mention the incredible scenery surrounding the place, and really good ski school. Beautiful city and kid people and the view was stunning, the atmosphere was peaceful. The bus stop was conveniently nearby, with buses arriving every 5 to 10 minutes to Sarnen. It is a small town with not many tourists when we visited.

Melchtal has a cablecar and a road up to the plateau at nearly 2000m with a lake Melchsee and a small church. There are many cows and cheese is made there. Surrounding the lake are glorious peaks up to 2600m and Tiflis and other 3000m mountains are in the distance. Sarnen is so beautiful with lush green hillsides, breathtaking views of the surrounding Alps, pretty streams and a peaceful lake. There are lovely walking trails and parks with boating activities and fantastic amenities. We were only able to stay a short while, but enjoyed a delicious dinner at Molini's, which we highly recommend. Sarnen is a lovely little town, with a wide range of shops, two supermarkets and a garage. There are lots of walks in the surrounding area which are well signposted. A small river runs through the centre. The town has a range of restaurants. It was very well situated for our overnight stop on a drive down to Italy.Guest review byMark
