Carnarvon is a quiet coastal town with a relaxed pace.
Carnarvon is a quiet coastal town with a relaxed pace. You’ll find fresh produce at the Gascoyne Growers’ Market and local seafood at nearby cafes. The Fascine waterfront is great for walks and sunset views. Visit the Carnarvon Space and Technology Museum for a look at Australia’s role in space history. The One Mile Jetty and Heritage Precinct offer a glimpse into the town’s past. Quobba Blowholes and the nearby coral coast are good for day trips. The town suits short stays and road trips. Accommodation is simple and service is friendly.Guest review byDexterH71Australia - 10.0

We went out to Francoise Peron national park (4WD only), the Aquarium with lunch, and golf at the most westerly course and a good meal at the pub. Due to the weather our trip to Dirk Hartog was cancelled but we support the wise decision of the tour operator who provided us a 100% refund.Guest review byPomfret - 6.0

Gateway motel
Gateway motel _ we really like the location of the gateway hotel and have stayed twice recently. we usually bring our own towels as we frequently stopover in Carnarvon through from Karratha we were traveling in a rush this time. the service was good, and the location and price is always good. in saying that we would like you to know - Towels were extremely thin and had visible holes _ cleanliness of room was questionable on bed side tables, above door and on windows. _ please consider replacing the shower rose so a taller person does not hit their head. _ the water pressure was fair, but with a better shower rose that will be fixed - the hot water took a long time to come through, I feel we wasted a lot of water waiting for it to get warm both in the shower and kitchen.Guest review byEricaAustralia - 10.0

Beautiful town very relaxed great views and a couple of good pubs. Visitor centre is well worth a visit plenty of history of the town. Monkey Mia was brilliant seeing the dolphins close up was an experience we will never forget. Ocean Park aquarium has plenty to see and provides a guided tour with a large amount of sea life to see. Guides very knowledgeable. Plenty of beaches to visit and some awesome photo opportunities. I can recommend Pauls tyres he fixed up my punctured tyre quickly and cheaply he also is the RAC call out man.Guest review byIanAustralia - 2.0
For kids, it's okay.
For kids, it's okay. However, the cost of the 850km drive from Perth is not commensurate with the facilities. Cervantes is a 100% better place to visit and be in the ocean. As they say, over the blaring megaphone, the dolphins might not turn up. Moreover, people are made to stand at the water's edge and not in the water. There is no touching or interaction with the dolphins. Sea World is more fun and of greater value.Guest review byIvanUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Carnarvon is the place to be in the winter months when further south is cold and miserable, if you have your own vehicle it's only a small town so easy to find what you need, Airport is in town for those who travel by plane.Guest review byRaymond - 10.0
A truly lovely place. Well worth staying a few days.
A truly lovely place. Well worth staying a few days. Monkey Mia is overrated. Nobody told me that the only times you can see the dolphins is in the morning, IF they turn up (they didn't when I was there (for 2 hours). But Denham has a wonderful main street right on the waterfront with 2 pubs. Can I recommend the Old Pub (Shark Bay Hotel). It showed rugby league State of Origin and on that night pints were $7.50 all night. The whole town is friendly.Guest review byTREVORAustralia - 8.0

I love the location right in front of the beach and the only accommodation in that area. They also have barbecue facility and shared kitchen with microwave, kettle, stove, fridges. They also have general store so if you want to cook something in the barbee or shared kitchen you can find it there. Snacks, ice cream, water, butter, etc. Also souvenirs. Kettle was rusty inside. Even those in the shared kitchen. So easy to descale them just boil vinegar in it. Can’t even make tea. Housekeeping did not replenish milk & sachet of hot chocolate. $286 per night this is being stingy. On first night after a long drive I just want to shower. But I hate to see sand in the shower area. Obviously it’s not cleaned. The room was run down and they tried to put new fittings. But you can still see rotting skirtings and old grout tiles. The main door, bathroom door, walls, bed head had smudges which obviously nobody paid attention to when cleaning the room. TV never worked always saying network error. Contact number for reception is useless. On our last day check out I approach the reception to give the key. I was told “you know we’re not even open.” Please take note dolphin feeding is not guaranteed. They never come the whole time we stayed. Lucky we went on a boat tour to see dugongs lucky we have seen heaps of dolphins coming to the catamaran.Guest review byEdelcitaAustralia
