- From US$146.62 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.7Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 3,684 reviewsGreat place to stay! Short and scenic 5-minute walk from the train station, and the views from the property are great, too. They have a luggage elevator, so you don’t have to lug your suitcase up a flight or two of stairs. The room was quaint, very clean, and smelled fresh. There’s a skylight that adds a lot light. The bed, sheets, and pillows were all super comfortable, so much so that I almost wish I had more time to spend sleeping. The room has a mini fridge with freezer compartment, electric kettle, coffee/tea, fan, TV, and a chair. And the provided breakfast was great too (pancakes, French toast, cereal, croissants, fruit, etc.), in yet another room with great views. Overall great stay, no complaints!Guest review byAndyUnited States

It was located right in the center, in a perfect location. Moreover, the staff, and especially Sandra, was exceptional and went above our expectations! She was very friendly and sociable with a great attitude! I highly recommend it! I believe this hotel offers the best value for money compared to any other accommodation in Hallstatt, and it’s truly one of the most beautiful hotels in Hallstatt. 10/10!" We went towards end of September which was still quite busy.
We went towards end of September which was still quite busy. I would avoid the peak Summer months if you don’t like crowds. Stunning town very picturesque. We had 2 nights which was just enough time to explore the town on foot as the Cable car and salt mines not operating in September as end of season. Great home cooked meal at good value for money at the Restaurant pictured below. Austrians prefer to be paid in Cash especially the taxi driversGuest review bySusanAustralia - 8.0

We travelled with 3 different trains from Vienna to Obertraun in order to visit Hallstat. Unfortunately, the transportation wasn't very convenient for us. One of the trains that we had arranged was late and we had to wait two more hours in order to get the last train to Obertraun. We departed from Vienna at 8:00 and we arrived to Obertraun at 15:30! Obertraun was very close to Hallstat. Hallstat is a magical place but next time I would prefer to visit it by car.Guest review bySophia - 10.0

Being surrounded by mountains and walking trails. I think Gosau is known for skiing in the winter but we were there in mid September and the weather was perfect for walking along the river and lakes. Cool but sunnyGuest review byTRAVEL DESIGNERMalaysia - 10.0

We stayed a bit less than 24 hours, may have liked a few more hours, but not a lot more. It was a wonderful intermediary between Vienna and Salzburg. It was nice to be there around the times that the buses weren’t. We rode in on the train, ferry to the town and ferry back to the train.Guest review byMarkUnited States - 10.0

Stay in beautiful Obertraun instead of the overpriced and crowded Hallstatt! We stayed 3 nights in a lovely accommodation Haus Edelweiss, and following the recommendations of lovely host Nina, we spent one day walking from Obertruan to Hallstatt. Along the way, we saw this stone path going up the hill and we went up (very do-able hike), and it led to a very beautiful view of Hallstatt! We then went down the other way and continued walking towards Hallstatt, explored the beautiful village and took the ferry (Euro 12/pax) back to Obertruan. Next day, we walked a loop from Obertruan to Koppenwinlsee. The walk was very lovely and we saw tiny red strawberries everywhere! There was a restaurant after Koppenwinslee but I think it was closed on Mon-Wed (please check), and other days open for lunch & dinner, so time yourself to make it in time for lunch/dinner. We were stopping so often to admire the scenery that we missed their lunch time! It is better to visit during non-summer to enjoy Austria.Guest review byRaySingapore - 8.0

The accommodation had great view and the balcony was so Cousy, I could sit whole evening there to spend some quality time. The location is beautiful and relaxing. My kids enjoyed lot. Special thanks to providing such a variety of toys and activity stuff for kids, they really got occupied with activities while at apartment.Guest review byGoudarGermany - 10.0

Gosau had everything we needed for a wonderful, relaxing holiday - a grocery store, multiple restaurants, beautiful views, friendly people, and many trails for hiking, biking, and walking. Additionally, Gosausee is only a short drive away. We didn't leave Gosau during our entire stay, as there were plenty of things to do, including just relaxing.Guest review byPhilUnited States - 8.0

The cons are it's a SUPER touristed little town, feels very crowded to walk the streets through the downtown. It's a gem of a town, so I get why everyone comes here. We were here in early Sept and even then it was wildly busy - I can't imagine coming here in peak season in June/July. There is also very little vegan food available but we made it work (there's great grocery stores for non-dairy milk, cheese, bread, hummus, veg, etc). The pros are it is really a lovely place and if you leave the town to go hiking (highly recommend), it's a lot more peaceful and the views are just epic. There's waterfalls and lookouts, and paths along the river. The salt mine was closed for construction but that looked cool to checkout. Some of the shops downtown had good things to buy (wooden ornaments and figurines, all the salt you can want, soaps).Guest review byMeganUnited States - 10.0
