We went to this museum because GEM was not officially opened...
We went to this museum because GEM was not officially opened and the Tutankhamun masks were still displayed in The Egyptian Museum. I recommend you to get a guide at least for one hour to explain you the most important pieces and then you can stay longer if you want. We found Mr. Ahmed Marei by the ticket office- very knowledgeable and passionate about the egyption history. He speaks English very well and made the whole experience even better. In Giza, some locals assume that all tourists have unlimited money and may charge different prices if you're a foreigner. Be cautious, as you might be asked to pay in dollars instead of the local currency. In my opinion, it's not worth going inside the pyramid—it's better to enjoy the view from the outside. This museum is well worth a better maintenance and attention and overall care. The building is an architectural masterpiece. The artifacts incredible, surpassed all our expectations. Possibly because of the work and organisation of the new museum in Giza by the pyramids , this one was somehow left behind.
