The Courtyard rests in the wing of a beautiful Palladian Georgian house (built in 1750); an idyllic, cosy retreat, with bright rooms leading out through French doors into an atmospheric private courtyard, gardens and the ancient monastic ruins of which surround the High Cross of Moone. The apartment looks out onto a ruined Towerhouse , and the River Griese lies just beyond inviting cold-water swimming and a peaceful place to meditate and relax.
There is usually someone at home to respond to any questions you may have, and we are happy to interact either through whatapp or the app.
Moone is a situated in a tranquil, southerly sliver of Kildare. Located in the foothills of the Wicklow mountains, the village itself is lies on the slopes of a gently dipping valley, of which Moone Abbey is the heart, hence the ancients located a monastery here. The village contains a lovely friendly cafe/shop, a church, school and a charming park/children's playground with a custom built exercise track.. Slightly further afield are a number of small pubs, notably the atmospheric Moone High Cross Inn. The nearest local towns are Athy, Baltinglass, and Castledermot, with Naas and Carlow only twenty minutes away. Moone Village is on the Rapid Express bus route, and therefore directly accessible from Dublin Airport - morning and evening buses only. However we recommend hiring a car during your stay here as the bus service can be unreliable. We are located 50 minutes by car from the Airport.
