Información de la zona
Wangford is a small village situated just off the A12 and a short distance from Southwold. The village is well equipped with both a village shop and a farm shop along with a choice of two pubs - The Angel Inn and The Plough which both serve food and drinks. Southwold is within easy cycling distance and if you have bikes you can pick up the Sustrans route 31 which takes you to Southwold or head in the other direction towards Beccles which sits on the edge of the Broads National Park. Beccles is on the River Waveney which is the southern point of entry to the broads and you can take a boat trip from the town to explore the waterways and experience some of the wildlife which lives in this part of the broads.
A visit to Southwold isn't to be missed. You can head to the Pier or walk along the beach towards the harbour where the RIver Blyth flows into the sea. There is a passenger foot ferry which will take you across the river to Walberswick on the far side. Southwold is home to the Adnams brewery and there are a number of pubs in the town which all serve the beers along with their gin. You can take a tour of the brewery or the gin distillery and have a go at making your own flavour of gin.
This area of Suffolk has a number of important wildlife habitats and the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is worth exploring if you are keen to see more of the bird and wildlife that call the area home.
Included within this area is the RSPB nature reserve at Minsmere, or if you head further north towards Covehithe, you can explore the Benacre National Nature Reserve or head to Covehithe where there is a lovely beach.
