Built in 1896 in the Art Nouveau style, the historic Jugendstilhotel Paxmontana, standing on a hill in a beautiful location in the Canton of Obwalden, has won many awards. The ideal location in the geographic centre of Switzerland makes the hotel a perfect starting point for sightseeing and hiking the medieval Way of St. James. The surrounding area is where St. Nicholas of Flüe (1417-1487), the patron saint of Switzerland, lived. The hotel park features a big Kneipp basin, a flower and herb garden and a wonderful panoramic view of the surrounding lakes and mountains.
