The Yard Bangkok Hostel has a 24-hour reception and an on-site bar. The Yard is an extremely cozy experience; not something I expected to find in the middle of Bangkok. As the name implies, the buildings are set up around a central courtyard that is absolutely packed with trees, plants, and seating / lounging areas. It definitely feels like an oasis of calm in the middle of the bustling city. The rest of the hostel's concept just reinforces this. There is a drinking water refill station and a cute little board to mark how many plastic bottles were spared a trip to the landfill. The breakfast is both delicious and very sustainably sourced from local farms. Homemade yoghurt? Yes please. The staff is great. Any sensible request, they can help you with and any questions about what to do, where to eat, or what is happening culturally in Bangkok right now, they will tell you about. The private rooms themselves are basic but clean and the AC is more than capable of keeping them at your preferred temperature. The mattresses are hard by Western standards but normal for SEA. The area of Ari is full of great restaurants about a 7 minute walk away. That is also the nearest Sky Train station. If you are wavering on booking a room, do it. This place sells out constantly and I just got lucky that someone else changed their plans.
