This family-run guest house is quietly situated in Stadt Wehlen in the heart of the Saxon Switzerland National Park, directly below the world-famous Bastei rock formation. It offers free WiFi. Beautiful location. Clean room. Very lovely breakfast with homemade specialty jams etc. that even included vegan options (when requested). Staff was very kind and helpful. Contactless check-in when you come outside of check-in hours. A perfect place to rest up and enjoy nature. Parking was available and pets were allowed. Even though we didn't bring any we love meeting others' pets on holidays.

Offering quiet street views, Pension Gesundbrunnen is an accommodation situated in Müglitztal, 19 km from Panometer Dresden and 22 km from Central Station Dresden. Very nice pension run by a family. Comfortable, there is pretty much everything one needs for a stay and a lot of room for a family of 4. Location was a concern when we booked it, but actually it's 25 mins to Dresden and equally close to all top hiking locations. In general, compared to other options in the area feels like a great value for the money.

Set within 24 km of Pillnitz Castle and Park and 33 km of Panometer Dresden in Kurort Rathen, Eisenbahnwelten offers accommodation with seating area. The room was clean and comfortable. The location is ideal, just a few minutes walk in one direction from the train station with its excellent rail service and a few steps to the ferry giving access to the main village of Unterrathen with the Bastei and walks in the Saxon Switzerland region immediately facing the house. Use of both rail travel and ferry are free with the guest card provided. The buffet breakfast was superb and could not have been better. But what made the stay totally unique was the amazing view from the room window of the river and village together with the huge open-air model railway complex surrounding the house. The staff were consistently friendly and obliging.

Fabulous room - modern decor well equipped and a great breakfast and good food in the restaurant- staff were nice and friendly

Offering a garden and garden view, Pension Kleiner König is set in Struppen-Siedlung, 3.2 km from Königstein Fortress and 18 km from Saxon Switzerland National Park. Claudia and Petra responded very quickly to our initial enquiries when booking and went out of their way to make our stay (brief as it was) comfortable and enjoyable. We arrived by bicycle and it was easy to have a secure place for them, and we were able to wash our riding clothes without any fuss. Breakfast was great!

Gasthof Uttewalde, a property with a garden, is located in Uttewalde, 14 km from Saxon Switzerland National Park, 15 km from Pillnitz Castle and Park, as well as 24 km from Königstein Fortress. The location was perfect for hiking. I came by public transport and found that I did not need a car to get around. I was able to walk just a few meters and I was on a hiking trial. But take note of the bus timetable if you want to go further, they are not very frequent. The breakfast was amazing and there was even enough food left over to create a sandwich for lunch on my hike. The restaurant food was also delicious and the owner was very friendly and welcoming. It was peaceful and the perfect atmosphere for a back to nature, hiking trip.

8.5 km from Pillnitz Castle and Park, Pension Donatus is set in Pirna and offers free WiFi, express check-in and check-out and concierge services. Clean, lovely bedroom and bathroom. Good quality and comprehensive breakfast. Helpful pleasant staff.
