This was honestly, one of the only times where I've stayed at a hotel and the room looked EXACTLY as it's shown in the photos-- Every other time you can tell the photos have been strategically taken, but not here! The location is great, the room was exceptional; the view was stunning, it's wonderfully quiet, the pool is beautiful and all the staff were incredibly helpful.

A beautiful property including our room, with excellent service! We were well taken care of on our honeymoon. Also, we forgot a very sentimental and valuable item and when we got in touch the Ritz Management quickly searched the room and got back to us on how to get the item to us as quickly and safely as possible! Highly recommend and would definitely return! Tara & Tim

Great location! Waikik is one of the best parts of Honolulu, there are plenty of shops, big brands and restaurants in an easy reach. Also, the famous Waikiki beach is about 5 minutes by walk. The facilities are awesome! We didn't get to the pools, but we loved the washing room, it came very handy that we could clean our dirty clothes in the middle of a long trip (for free). The room was one of the best ones, if not the best one, we ever had! Everything seemed to be brand new, the furniture has great quality. We loved that the doors of each rooms are opening in each others - so, you can walk around from the living room through the bedroom and bahtroom, then get back to the living room (though not having a door on the toilet is an interesting choice). The kitchen was fully equipped, we loved the USB plugs at the bedsides and to have both a bath tube and a shower cabin.

We loved the welcoming staff, checked us in early after arriving from Australia exhausted, we were hoping to just store our bags til check in - staff could not have been friendlier. Rooms comfortable and perfect for what we needed. The bar was awesome - the avocado toast for breakfast is a must - and the welcome cocktail was that good it was my drink of choice for 4 days. Not five star modern hotel but service sure made it a five star experience.

This hotel is in a good location if you don't plan on using a car but just going to the beach and walking around the area. There is a military museum right next to the hotel as well as lots of shops and cafes. The room we had was spacious and comfortable with a great selection of TV channels, of course if you're staying in a hotel room although I don't think anyone would stay in a room when in Hawaii. Even though we were on a lower floor and the room faced the street we didn't hear too much noise. The room was clean and had everything you needed to cook basic meals, a small kitchen with everything you need. The pool is ok but you have to be careful if you're not a swimmer as one part is shallow and then you go straight into the deeper part. The gym is small but has everything you need to stay in shape. You also have a barbecue area which I highly recommend as you can have a barbecue with your family and enjoy the view of the park. The hotel staff are excellent and all praise for them. If all hotels had such smiling and helpful staff, no hotel guest would ever be dissatisfied with the service. They deserve all the praise and a pay raise.

FAQs about hotels in Honolulu

A True Water Sports Paradise

Standing proudly on the island of Oahu in the Pacific Ocean, Honolulu is the Hawaiian capital, meaning "a sheltered bay." Spreading along the white sandy beaches and supported by the strong back of the volcanic mountains, it's a real island paradise.

Honolulu's most popular and famous district, Waikiki, features the stunning Waikiki Beach decorated with hundreds of surfboards, palms and lounge chairs. It’s also a center for the city’s nightlife and shopping, especially along Kalakaua and Kuhio Avenues.

As the most popular activities in Honolulu include surfing, snorkeling, canoeing and other water sports, it's no surprise the city has a number of sandy beaches. Try Hanauma Bay, a crescent-shaped beach with rolling, green hills behind it.

For fans of hiking and exploring, nature awaits at Diamond Head Mountain, a volcanic tuff cone where you can admire the panoramic view of the city. There is also the Bishop Museum with the world’s largest collection of Hawaiian and Pacific artifacts and the Waikiki Aquarium with over 490 species of marine fauna and flora.

From hotels near Honolulu International Airport to hotels near the beach, Booking.com has plenty of properties, from cheap to luxury, for your Honolulu trip.

We only spent one night in Waikiki area, but it was considerably busier than the many other places we've been around the islands. Reminded me of Shibuya or Osaka (also in part due to affluence of Japanese tourists). We didn't visit many amenities but the beach at Waikiki was quite packed, even though we went there around 8 AM on a Monday in September (three lines of parties at all times). No major complain but not exactly the impression/expectation of the islands.

I think the biggest thing was the cost - the prices of food and general goods have tripled since our last visit most people we spoke to said the same - I would say the visitor numbers were down possibly due to this - tours and experiences were expensive - the locals also said the same how they are struggling to live day to day. The plastic used in Hawaii was excessive - there was nothing environmental about the place at all I did see some wildlife with lost legs and one bird had fishing twine and a bead wrapped around its leg - the poor thing was shivering but unfortunately I couldn't help it.

The location and lagoon ( at the Hamilton village resort was great for swim…and fun for children…fireworks fantastic, food …sososso…not to bad..the Ilikai boardwalk is really great…for a beach swim one need to go further up the Waikiki beach…there is good sandy beach…people are very friendly…but of course take lots of money with you, all is very expansive in Hawaii…hire a car and drive around it’s easy…

The Hilton Waikiki Village was an absolut rip-off. The USS Arizona Memorial and the museums on Ford Island were great. I would recommend to take th eextra tour to the top of the air traffic control tower on Ford Island.

Location is great, close enough to the midst of Waikiki that it's easy to get everywhere pretty quickly. Room was on the cheaper end in Waikiki - was clean, comfortable and a good base for our week in Oahu. Front desk staff were great on check in helping us to store bags when we arrived early morning, and working to get us into a room just after lunch, slightly earlier than our check in time which as traveller's off an overnight flight was greatly appreciated.

    - Location: great location. We've stayed at another hotel across from Waikiki beach, but that location wasn't as good as Surfer's for us because all the restaurants, cafes and shops are actually closer to Surfer's. - View: nothing beats the view of that pool... - Service: we got a room upgrade and ended up staying in a 2-bedroom suite, super spacious! Make all other rooms we've stayed at in Hawaii seemed small 😂

The Royal Hawaiian Resort is located right at Waikiki Beach and the view from the tower room was beautiful. The gardens are also very nice and the beach right in front of the hotel is clean and also beautiful. After staying there 13 years ago, I wanted to come back and relive the great memories I had of this place…

Given the fact this was a "cheaper" hotel in Waikiki, I was pretty surprised at how full service this hotel was. Daily room cleaning, fully kitted out bar and cafe, amazing location and views etc. Staff were also extremely friendly and helpful. Even offering to move rooms during stay due to noise etc.

Wonderful view of the ocean, diamond head and zoo gardens. Best end of waikiki to get real hawaiian ambience rather than just crowded hotels, shops and tourists. Area is great for all kinds of beach activities and swimming. Very comfortable bed. Excellent japanese restaurant.
