    Close to larger city, but far enough away to feel very country-fied. Loved the choice of restaurants within a very short driving distance. Can keep the trip very low-key or add a lot of interesting sightseeing.

    We ate dinner at the Avon Old Farm’s restaurant two nights (Seasons Restaurant & Tap Room). Our dinners were very good, and the bar served excellent local beer on tap. We didn’t venture far for meals as our brief stay was for reasons in addition to leisure. Really enjoyed the setting of Avon Old Farms Hotel and its amenities. We’d certainly seek this facility out again if in the area. We were able to include a visit to the Mark Twain House & Museum as well as the nearby home of Harriet Beecher Stowe while there, only a 20-25 min. drive away - great American historical sites. Getting around was easy with GPS.

    We like this hotel, it's reasonably priced, the food is great and the staff helpful. It's the best alternative to staying in noisy downtown Hartford.
