FAQs about hotels in Istanbul

The Best of Asia and Europe

The city of Istanbul offers a trip unlike any other, encompassing Asian and European cultures to create a heady mix of art, music and food. The amazing Old Town and the Sultanahmet are home to iconic Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia. More history is hidden in the Topkapi Palace, where you can glimpse the splendour and opulence of Turkey’s Ottoman heritage.

Take a stroll through the historic centre or the bustling Taksim Square before watching the sun set behind countless mosques and minarets. Local fish markets and numerous restaurants lining the bridge to Galata offer the Golden Horn’s daily catch.

If you prefer the fine art of bargaining to fine art, lose yourself in the Grand Bazar and maybe you’ll emerge with a hookah, some Turkish coffee, or even a carpet. The Spice Bazar further immerses you in the sights, smells, and tastes of Turkish culture.

Getting to Istanbul is an easy trip from Ataturk International Airport or Sabiha Gokcen Airport. Whether you want a luxury hotel on the Asian side or a budget hostel in Taksim Square, Booking.com has over 1,000 great accommodations for your holiday in Istanbul.

    Istanbul is a fantastic place.

Istanbul is a fantastic place. For a short city break, for a longer staying as well. Rich history, interesting present, efficient public communication allowing you to move from historical places to modern districts in minutes. Friendly people, magnificient food, good weather for most of the year. Downsides only few, but important ones. Istanbul becomes more and more expensive. Prices (in EURO / DOLLAR) rise noticeably. Ticket prices become crazy. For many famous attraction in London, Paris, New York you pay substantialy less than for famous attraction in Istanbul! And in MET Museum in NY you can admire most noble art pieces for whole the day. In Hagia Sophia in Istanbul for almost twice much expensive ticket you will get a 15 -20 min walk. Don't get me wrong - Hagia Sophia and at least 15 other historical places are "musts" once you come to Istanbul, but these days they are priced much, much too high. The same relates to restaurants in historical city center. They charge you for location, quite frequently offering mostly location. Food quality in those "noble places" - it is not only my opinion - has been dropping down. Besides, if you read the menus very carefully, you will always find a very fine printed note listing additional charges which will increase the bill for 15 up to 25%. Solution: look for places for locals. No turists = delicious food + resonable prises.

In contrast to before, Hagia Sophia is not a museum anymore, so your visit is only limited experience to 1st floor (no access to ground floor), and the ticket price is sky high, especially if you take combo ticket for a museum (you have to find different location and wait in lines twice).

Istanbul is a great city, but make sure to bring some cash in Lira before departure or entering the country. You need to make sure that you have at least 500 USD in your pocket, so you can easily exchange it when you are inside the city. Avoid high commission rate exchanges at all costs! Check the USD/TRY price online before heading to any exchanges, so you'd be confident about the rates. My final advice would be to get an Istanbul card first, before leaving the airport.

Nothing, because all the negative experiences ruined my experience of visiting Istanbul, I will never stay here again. Also, don't book any excursions with the hotel, they pocket huge amounts of the profits.. For Bosphorus boat tour they tried charging me an extortionate 500 USD per person at first for booking through the hotel. Being a tourist from the UK, they try to sell the best boats Istanbul has to offer to you, but in reality you'll get a boat worth 10 euros at the maximum. Be careful of these deceitful tactics!

This property is one of the bestest hotels to stay at Istanbul. The best part of this hotel is the owner himeself Fuad. He was exceptional with his services and he cared for us way too much. Every other time he was present to cater us. The rooms are newly renovated and clean. Washrooms are superb clean and all the facilities are there which are in 5 star hotel. I had a great trip and thank you Taksim Larissa for making it a memorable one. My next visit will be sure this hotel again.

In all of our many years of travelling, this is the best customer service we have ever experienced. The staff here are simply exceptional. The rooms are beautiful and big. The location is perfect. The breakfast is tasty and huge. The hotel organised laundry, an airport transfer and a Bosphorus cruise for us and it all went flawlessly. They also upgraded us free of charge. This was a perfect experience and we will stay here again on our next visit in Istanbul!
