The centre if Iasi is a beautiful city. Its like any city really with the good and bad areas. I expected a different city as we hear so much about corruption and prostitution in Romania yet I seen none of this, nothing. I found the people however very cold. In shops and restaurants especially people were cold distance and rarely smiled. I found this hard. I goggled it and the findings state this is normal and that romanians wont let their barrier down with strangers. I found it hard. The city was wonderful a lot of museums and places to visit from Palace of Culture, painted old churches byzantine style, as well as the literature museums of the prominent Romanian poets. I personally visited "Ion Creanga" historical house. It is good to explore the city walking. The city is beautiful and green. I have a special connection with Iași.
I have a special connection with Iași. I simply enjoy being there and I try to go every so often. I like the vibe of Copou with all the students and the beautiful buildings and the parc, I like the beautiful Lăpușneanu street with the small bookshops, I like the Ștefan cel Mare boulevard, I like the Palas area, you get it :) I like the attitude of the people, it feels like they're warmer somehow. I don't know if it's because I'm from the same region, but in the other cities in the region I don't feel the same way. Iași has a rich history and culture. The first university in Romania was established there in 1860. The second one in Bucharest came 4 years later. Many writers and poets were born or lived there and it's like you can feel that when you walk on its streets.Guest review byLucianRomania - 10.0

The palace of culture was absolutely incredible, as well as the main street leading up to it. The main university's campus had a pleasant ambience, with many cute cafes littered around the city. I certainly recommend all the museums to see there and other historical sites. While the outer landscape is a remnant of post-communism, the rich history of Moldova is proudly visible and unique.Guest review bySteven

Location is optimal too as it was steps away from markets and the bus and train station to travel to other parts of România which was the case for me. 20 mins walk to central amenities was so handy. The apartment also had cooking facilities and utensils which made my stay so much better as I didnt have to eat out I could cook myself. The cherry on the cake was they also provided teas, oil, salt, and pepper which means a lot as you wouldnt want to buy them if youre only staying a while.Guest review byEmiIreland
