You will be hard pressed to find a more peaceful place with such a view, a magical atmosphere close to the jungle. Singing birds and monkeys all around. waterfalls a short walk away. Excellent food will be cooked by a wonderful hostess right on the spot. The place is free of mosquitoes. Excellent cleanliness, interior and shower unrivaled style.

Staying at Wood Palace in Ella was one of the highlights of my trip. The location is perfect — it feels like you’re tucked away in the jungle, surrounded by nature and total peace, yet you’re only a short stroll from town, cafes, and everything you need. That balance between seclusion and convenience is hard to find, but this place nails it. The family who runs it make the stay extra special. The mother who prepares breakfast is absolutely adorable — she cooks with such care, and her warm smile makes every morning brighter. The breakfasts themselves are delicious, fresh, and generous. The owner is a great bloke too — kind, genuine, and always ready to help with tips, directions, or just a good chat. If you want a stay in Ella that feels authentic, welcoming, and beautifully set in nature without being far from the action, Wood Palace is the perfect choice. Highly recommended! 🌿✨

The Cubus Ella is an absolute gem, especially for budget travelers! This 3-star hotel offers an exceptional dormitory experience—super clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The bathrooms and showers are spotless, which is always a big plus in a hostel setting. A special touch that sets this place apart is the warm welcome with a drink upon arrival—something you don’t often see in hostels! The complimentary breakfast is another great perk, with a choice of different egg styles, fresh fruit, and coffee or tea to start the day right. The hospitality here is top-notch. The owner and his staff are incredibly kind and service-minded, always making sure guests feel comfortable. I had a late departure in the evening, and keeping my luggage at the front desk free of charge was no issue at all. If you’re looking for a clean, friendly, and well-run hostel in Ella, The Cubus Ella is the perfect choice. Highly recommend! Just be aware that this place is NOT in the city center, but a 5 minutts Tuk Tuk ride away. This was not a problem, as one ride was 500r.

The view of the hills from the bar and restaurant is breathtaking. The decoration of the room is very arty and even unique. Would recommend this place as a retreat for resting too. It has a nice little pool. Staff is helpful and organizes tuktuks for you at the best price.

We found the best host in this place. He is the nicest guy we met în SRI Lanka . He offered free drive to the city by his tuk tuk and also nice tour to the temple and the tea factory, and he also found for us very good pricees for drivers . The room has the best view to the 9arch bridge , it is very clean and you have there every little thing that you need . The breakfast was delicious and different each day. Thank you for everything !

Obey was a great host! His breakfast was outstanding, we had one western then one Sri Lankan, he went over and above for me and my family! Rooms were lovely, he even did some of our laundry and got stains out of our white clothing !

good big breakfast except taste of coffee. colibris. shortcut to centre 7 min by foot following the railroad. quiet area but in night monkeys run on the roof and fight. nice view from the balcony, good picture place from neighbours property to the waterfall. Bottled water was always available, owner super friendly and used twice his tuck-tuck to lift us to the centre. enough hot water. saw just 1 mosquito in April during 2 days
