Gero has so much to share, with food, including Hida beef, yes get familiar with it. It's top level Wagyu beef and is from Hida the region that Gero is situated. The city is easy to get around in the snow (in Winter) and in the rain (in Spring), with places that are easy to walk or ride share to. Gero to most is a journey to get to with taking the trains, but it's well worth the journey, having seen cherry blossoms in the ever greens AND the snow falling like in a "snow globe", encrusting the tress, during the train ride. We are fortunate to have experienced Gero twice and now looking for a third stay, in Autumn for the changing of the leaves!Guest review byRonaldoUnited States - 10.0
Gero is a gorgeous town in the valley in Gifu.
Gero is a gorgeous town in the valley in Gifu. There is a much slower pace here, incredibly friendly people. and beautiful nature. I did a one day trip, I went there just because of the naturals onsen, and it was the best decision, I arrived about 10:00 at leave at the same time of the next day. Honestly I don't think is a trip for more than 3 days. Gero is a beautiful city, it has a few museums that can be seen in one period of the day. As the city is small, it doesn't need car or bus to go around if no one has fiscal disabilities. We had only booked bed and breakfast, and our rooms were well appointed and spacious, with views overlooking Gero. The Japanese breakfast was plentiful and good quality. The public Onsen had inside and outside pools which were spacious and relaxing, and very quiet when we visited. There is also a spacious bar, where you can use the Karaoke.
