Cracking City of Craic

Welcoming Galway is a small city with fantastic nightlife and an infectious atmosphere. Outside of the Galway Arts Festival, there’s still plenty of live music in the Irish pubs to get the party started.

The Galway Races at Ballybrit Race Course west of Galway Airport attract a good crowd, as does Eyre Square, a green space with flags of previous ruling families who gave it its nickname - City of Tribes. To the south are cobbled streets housing brightly coloured shops and restaurants.

Sights in Galway include its cathedral and city museum which offers an interesting insight into the history of the city and Ireland. Lynch’s Castle is the last remaining 17th-century merchant house, and the Spanish Arch is a small section of city walls by the Corrib River, linking Galway Bay to huge Loch Corrib. Where river and ocean meet is Claddagh Park, a great spot for a picnic with a view.

Further around the coast is Salthill Promenade, home to Atlantaquaria, Ireland’s national aquarium, focussing on sealife off Irish shores. It’s a Christmas Day tradition to jump from Blackrock Diving Tower nearby into the icy Atlantic Ocean, though you may well spot some wag giving it a go.

    És una ciutat encantadora amb molts llocs per gaudir d'una cervesa ben tirada, música en viu, restaurants... Per altra banda està al costat del mar i és molt bonica per passejar i gaudir del paisatge.

    Ciutat petita, acollidora i amb un ambient molt familiar als...

    Ciutat petita, acollidora i amb un ambient molt familiar als carrers, amb actuacions a la plaça ja que era el Festival Internacional d'Arts. Bon lloc base per fer excursions a la zona de Connemara i Ciffs de Moher. Ens va agradar molt el pub An Púcán on vam sopar un parell de vegades.

    Una casa no molt allunyada del Centre de Galway a on es pot accedir amb camninant pel passeig de mar o amb el bus 401. També molt prop de salthill centre, l Aquarium i el seu passeig de mar. Això fona tranquilitat i comoditat. La casa esta perfecta, ample neta i molt confortable. No li manca de res. Te inclús llar de foc, tot i que no la vam fer servir, no feia tan de fred. Absolutament magnifica.

    Les instal·lacions estan molt bé, l'habitació i bany estan nous i nets. Zona molt tranquila. A 10 minuts en cotxe del centre. Hi ha un pàrquing gratuït a 2 minuts a peu (a recepció et donen un plànol imprès per arribar-hi). Cada cuina compartida és per a un màxim de 4-5 habitacions. Nosaltres estavem sols a la nostra zona (el mes de juny). Recomanable els pubs de galway, amb música en viu.
