FAQs about hotels in Dubrovnik

The Pearl of the Adriatic

A medieval beauty full of magnificence and glory, Dubrovnik is surrounded by white stone walls. Located on the Adriatic coast of Croatia, this masterpiece is one of the most promising tourist destinations.

Passing through the imposing stone gate of Pile Gate, you will find yourself immersed in history. Take a walk in the narrow streets of this charming city, enjoy a cup of coffee in one of the colourful cafés, or order fresh fish in one of the outdoor restaurants.

Surrounded by turquoise waters, Dubrovnik Old Town sights include the picturesque Stradun, Onofrio fountain and the Franciscan monastery.

The city’s cable car will take you up to Mount Srd from where you can savour panoramic views over the treasures of this UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Buses connect Dubrovnik Airport with the city centre, and Booking.com offers a variety of hotels, apartments, and guest houses throughout.

Dubrovnik is very popular for good reasons, but also quite expensive. Best: relax on Lokrum island. Worst: you HAVE to do the city walls in one go - if you exit, you must pay €40 again. This is NOT stated on the Dubrovnik pass. Somehow you're supposed to understand that all sections of the wall are one location.

Wonderful old town, one of the best in the world.

Wonderful old town, one of the best in the world. Beautiful setting with stunning scenery. Cable car to the top of the mountain gave wonderful views. Bus travel is horrific, especially when leaving the old town. Huge numbers of people trying to get on each bus. Needs a much more frequent service and some form of queuing system.

Interesting old town. Lots of history and very compact. The museums and walls are all good to experience. The gondola takes you up to the very top of the mountain. Food was good and options to eat are everywhere. Lots of shopping also.

The Old Town/City Walls are very well preserved/authentic looking. Lots of tourist shopping and dining. Kayaking around the walls and Bettina Cave swimming was fun. Lokrum Island was not worth the price of the ferry and admission. If you aren't staying to swim, it's underwhelming. But everyone who is a Game of Thrones fan wanted to sit on the throne and have a picture taken. That's the big draw, I think. Remember that Dubrovnik is set on a hillside. Stairs, stairs and more stairs!

Our trip was to see Old Town Dubrovnik, it did not disappoint. Exceptionally clean and cared for and credit to the city putting tourism dollars back into maintenance. In turn, tourists made the effort to be tidy and respectful. Finally, be aware the late September crowds are still huge.

It is very safe, too many tourists for my taste but the old city is amazing to explore and a must to walk the City Walls. You do not need a car or Uber as you can walk everywhere between the Old City and Lapad, and there are plenty of boats and bus tours to jump on and off. Lokrum island is a great way to spend the day and we also took a bus tour to Bosnia that was fantastic. The food is excellent. There is a strong Italian / Greek Mediterranean influence on the food and architecture. Plenty of museums and local history and art to take in. Definably a three day stay minimum as you move on through your journey

    - staff member stayed back after realising our flight into dubrovnik was delayed and welcomed us with a very thorough and informative check in and took the time to talk through the hotel amenities as well as sights to see and places to eat. - location was excellent - situated within the old town and with only 10 or so steps to climb to access - very easy. - clean room and comfortable beds with pillows.

Fantastic hotel and facilities we had zero complaints, the room was really big with a kitchenette, large bathroom and bedroom. The outside areas of the hotel were fantastic again and really clean, the pool area was brilliant and had views over dubrovnik. Not a complaint (as we knew about this prior to booking) but it's a good uphill walk back on a night from the old town.

Good location - not too far to walk into Dubrovnik old town and away from the main road so nice and peaceful, right next to a 5 star hotel. Really friendly owners who live 2 floors above the property and who gave us useful advice on arrival. Property was very good value for money and we enjoyed the outside terrace area.

The hotel presents as premium and modern. Great rooms which are clean and spacious. Aircon is brilliant. Breakfast was very good. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Great location and very close to the local bus(about a 1 minute walk from the hotel) which takes you to Dubrovnik old town.

The location which includes parking and has a bus stop outside the front door for going in and out of Dubrovnik, is first class. The ONLY hotel right on the beach albeit a pebble one!
