A charming place to visit.
A charming place to visit. The views, scenery, local people, heritage railways, harbour, easy transport access and access to amenities, shops, restaurants and shops, walks along the cob, with views of Snowdon. The Welsh Highland Heritage Railway, has an excellent museum and local staff have an excellent knowledge of the history of the area, the slate mining and heritage railways. Great for families. The scenery along the routes on the Welsh Highland Railway is spectacular. (This is separate to the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway). Suitable for families. The views along the cob, estuary and harbour are scenic and the views of Snowdon and surrounding region are very scenic. Portmeirion and the David Lloyd George Museum and his childhood home are easy to reach by car or public transport. There is a harbour museum and a number of other attractions within the region. The food at Marina La Cucina was freshly cooked and very good food. Porthmadog has two scenic railways with great trips. It has all the usual facilities with good cafes restaurants and ice cream shops etc. Good range of supermarkets for self catering. Not overly commercial so retains a Welsh charm. Very easy to access other areas with great road and rail links. Nice marina area and places for walks. Dog friendly. They have a one way system around the park which makes drving much safer. Great lodges, we had the Cabana, decent size shower, the blinds are great as it prevents the lodge getting too hot on sunny days.
