It is a lovely wee place and a community hub for locals. The food was delicious and the owners very friendly. We enjoy the quiet little towns and this was a real find.

We stayed at the black swan for 3 nights and used it as a base to travel out around the Lake District. Steve and Jacky were very welcoming and there was always laughing and joy in the air. It has a really homely feel to it throughout our stay. The rooms are lovely and have everything you would need, the bed was very comfortable after long walks and activities. The breakfast was amazing and a perfect start to an active day. A superb place to stay, relax and enjoy everything the Lake District has to offer. Thank you Jacky & Steve

They didn't do breakfast but the evening meal made up for it. Joanne went out of her way to make our stay memorable. Nothing was to much trouble. The staff were fantastic and the room's were spotless and very comfortable. We loved it.

    The apartment was modern and very clean and location was ideal for our trip. However, we did not receive an information pack. This meant we couldn't put the heating on and we were freezing on the Friday night. We did manage to sort this out later that evening.

    The accomodation was not properly cleaned, the heater didn't work and wasn't fixed, there were no taps on the bath. we booked for five but only catered for 4, no nice touches such as local information - they only wanted our money.
