Thriving village community with lots of amenities and a well supported social club along with two pubs, art gallery, hair salon, wellbeing centre, tea rooms, pasty shop, ice cream parlour & riverside walks. Also plenty to do on the water. Trains run to & from Plymouth/Gunnislake plus places of interest nearby. The viaduct is truly spectacular. Close to everything but still snug and quiet. The cottage is beautifully done up and so cosy. Very comfy bed and easy relaxed feeling throughout. The views of the viaduct over the river are great from upstairs and in the garden. We hope to stay longer next time - now we know how comfy the cottage is.Guest review byTinaUnited Kingdom

Coming from London it was ideal to escape to the quiet of Calstock and the Artist's Retreat was perfect. It was essentially an annex to the owner's house and as such they were very welcoming and helpful, but it never compromised our privacy. It was so tranquil to wake up in the morning with a coffee and watch the ducks on the river. The location is perfect close to the local pubs and shops and also further afield to explore other places in Cornwall. Highly recommend this place. Dont miss the homemade pasty shop in Calstock - legendary. Pizza van visits village once a week - not to be missed.
