FAQs about hotels in Bristol

From Brunel to Banksy!

Britain’s 4th most popular visitor destination, Bristol boasts Brunel’s magnificent Clifton Suspension Bridge spanning the River Avon. More Brunel handiwork is in the harbour where his SS Great Britain steamship is moored. Pirate walks here detail the city’s underground naval history.

Further north in Clifton is the world’s oldest zoo outside a capital city. Other Bristol attractions include At-Bristol Museum and the Grade I-listed Corn Exchange with its 4 "nails" outside where money changed hands. Also worth a visit is St Nicholas Market, in a Georgian square home to several bars and a Slow Food Market on the 1st Sunday of every month. Other Bristol shopping options include shopping centres at Cabot Circus, and Cribbs Causeway on the outskirts.

As a student city, Bristol really comes to life after dark. The live music scene here is fantastic and has given way to several internationally known bands, but for something more alternative head to Eastside.

Another option for alternative-seekers is the work of hometown street artists Banksy. Just like Booking.com’s Bristol accommodation, his work is spread throughout this fabulous city.

This Gateway to the West Country is served by Bristol Airport and Temple Meads train station. The old Bristol to Bath railway line is now a cycle route and makes a great day trip.

Having eloped to Bristol in the 1960s and spent 10 years there, I recently returned and was very disappointed and appalled that the city has become horrible to view. The City Council are a disgrace. A once-beautiful City has become an eyesore, a dump. God forgive the City planners. The people deserve better.

A city of 2 personalities: Exciting, vibrant, community-driven, great food and music scene. At the same time it is highly unpleasant: Drugs, homeless, dirty, unsafe, no-go areas and car crime. It's a melting pot. Be prepared.

Not many people mention Bristol in their top ten places to visit in the UK, but it's a really nice city with a youthful, fun vibe and plenty of places to see - from the Cathedral to the wharf areas to the Banksy spots to the fun cafes and bars and restaurants around Corn Street.

I was there for work but it's a lovely city.

I was there for work but it's a lovely city. I did find the homeless people unnerving. I normally study in London so I am sadly used to homeless people on the streets but somehow the Bristol ones were more threatening. I particularly enjoyed visiting a wild swimming site and a local National Trust property

Clifton was a beautiful place to stay. Plenty to do & see. Bus service was great too. Art Gallery was a nice touch. Plenty of places to shop. It is a busy place. Clifton suspension bridge is a must to visit. Beautiful on sunset. Advanced parking advised.

Passing through from the airport to Temple Meads station,...

Passing through from the airport to Temple Meads station, the airport is awful, being rebuilt round the passengers. The buses were on strike, and the bus waiting area was a scrum. Airport employees didn't give a toss. The bus route into Bristol from the airport goes through some very dodgy areas. Train station is a dump, badly signposted and with erroneous information on the destination screens. Train out to Worcester was overcrowded and too hot, with passengers obliged to sit on the floor outside the toilets. I hope never to return to Bristol, its airport or its railway station, and the GWR train I was forced to travel on was an absolute disgrace.

The location was good, and the price was very competitive for Bristol city centre. The welcome apple basket and sherry in the room was a nice touch. Lots of small touches like the name of the person who made up the room. And as little a detail as it may seem, having real milk in the fridge and not a little long-life pot made the morning cuppa so much nicer than in a lot of hotels!

Comfortable air conditioned rooms finished to a high standard - clean - reasonably priced for a high-end hotel - excellent breakfast with a very good choice of cold and hot buffet - car parking in basement at additional cost - excellent location for Bristol city centre - we go there regularly - would recommend

The hotel is close to the city centre harbourside. Easy access to the vast amount of buses to get around Bristol. The room was pretty big, the bed was comfy, spacious bathroom. WiFi was ok - depending on how many people were using it at the same time (even though I had high speed internet access).

Great house with everything you'd need for a city break, much more convenient than a couple of hotel rooms. The house is in a great location with lots of amenities, cafes, restaurants and pubs nearby. Easy access to the city centre to explore more and attractions of Bristol.

We chose the hotel as it was convenient for the station, and not too far from Bristol City centre. The restaurant (for dinner and breakfast) was fairly good in terms of the quality of food, but the service at dinner was on the slow side.
