To us was just right, quiet village, no noisy roads, good access to land marks and close enough to markets and restaurants. A recommended local pub that we did not visit. A great local ancient walnut tree with history

Brampton has plenty of eating places including 2 great pubs. Both the butchers are fantastic would recommend both. Ideal base for exploring Hadrians wall and also both Roman army museum/Vindolanda and Housteads roman fort as well as others or a short journey away.

It is a pleasant country town off the main east west road and therefore free of heavy traffic. The town restaurant(Howard Arms) is excellent but very popular so reservation a good idea. The Spar shop opens early and is well stocked. The early riser can feel the town stirring slowly. Many of the Roman Wall sites are within 15 -30 minutes drive. Car parking is dotted about and a short term space can be found or loner term a little further from the centre.

The Howard Arms and the Lucky House Chinese are excellent, the small high street has everything you need for a short stay. We also visited the local Indian restaurant Star of Inaise, which was fine although we are spoiled with our local choice's. The local area has some lovely walks and has Hadrian's wall running through it. You can get lovely views of the area after a short walk up moat hill. Brampton is just a short drive from Carlisle which has everything you need, cinema, restaurants, trampoline park and many pubs in botcher gate.

This is a lovely hotel, beautifully upkept in original character but there is no sense of over formality. The evening meal was lovely but we’d recommend having sides of potatoes, veg etc if you are at all hungry!

We were looked after very well, our hosts were very welcoming, very attentive and the accommodation excellent. We usually use hotels for brief stays, but this rural B&B was by far preferable to a hotel.

Brampton and the North pennines so worth a visit. Peace and quiet with easy access to the Lake District if you wish. Also good to border hop into Scotland. Lovely Northumberland just up the road.
