Villeneuve-sur-Alier is in the middle of the Bourbonais Castle area, surrounded by very large and famous castles. The city itself does not offer much and is actually run down. Conveniently located off the N7, the hotel is in a lovely quiet setting overlooking the river. The owners are friendly and helpful eg a cup of tea and a beer and biscuits when we arrived. The bedroom is small but comfortable with a good shower and lots of hot water.
