Take into consideration that this is a village in rural France, a fair distance from the traditional tourist route, so English is not so widely spoken. However, the natives are friendly, and with a smattering of French (and Google Translate), you can get by quite easily. Not all of the restaurants are open each night, so best to check opening times, but we were still able to find somewhere to eat on each of the nights we were there (the Pizza man at the Hotel has very good English). There is an ample supermarket in the village should you want to do your own catering. The village is very French in style, and the traffic in the area is, for the most part, quite sparse. A place for quiet contemplation and sightseeing rather than raucous nightlife. Drink wine, eat cheese, and enjoy the ambience.

    I visited St.

I visited St. Sauveur to see the writer Colette's house and visit the museum dedicated to her, but I was unprepared for how much I would want to remain. Although somewhat difficult to travel to (unless one has a car), it is so worth it! The Wednesday market sells fresh vegetables grown, and fresh cheeses made, in the area. There are several incredible booksellers and galleries. The town is quite picturesque and walkable, with many 18th century homes, the museums, and the castle that is being restored using ancient techniques and processes. Above all, the locals are welcoming.
